여름철 한국 동해 중부 극전선과 주변해역에서 식물플랑크톤의 군집구조와 분포를 밝히기 위하여 1990년 여름철에 수온, 염분, 영양염과 기초생산력 및 식물플랑크톤의 현존량에 대해서 조사하였다. 총 96종의 식물플랑크톤이 동정되었으며 그중 Rhizosolenia setigera와 Thalassionema nitzschioides 2종이 우점종으로 나타났다. 조사해역의 북부연안수역에서는 표충과 chlorophyll a가 최대로 나타난 50m충의 군집이 아주 다르고 남부와 외해역에서는 유사했다. 주요인분석의 결과 북부연안 표층수역을 대표하는 식물플랑크톤 군집은 연안난수성 와편모조류였고 북한한류수역은 냉수성 규조류로 그리고 남부와 외해수역은 난수성 규조류였다. 또한 전선구역에서는 냉$\cdot$ 온수성 규조류가 혼합하여 나타났고 기초생산력과 식물플랑크톤의 현존량 역시 전선구역에서 월등히 높았다. 영양염의 농도는 북한한류수역에서 현저히 높았는데 그 이류는 영양염의 공급과 함께 전선면에서의 식물플랑크톤 peak에 크게 기여하는 것으로 사료된다. To characterize the community structure and spatial distribution of phytoplankton, observations on seawater temperature, salinity, nutrients, primary productivity and abundance and species composition of phytoplankton were made in the polar front region and its neighborhood off the east coast of Korea in summer 1990. Among the 96 taxa identified, Rhizosolenia setigera and Thalassionema nitzschioides were the most dominant species. The assemblage at the surface and 50 m depth was quite different in the northern inshore part of the study area but similar in the southern and offshore part. Principal component analysis by the species abundance showed that the phytoplankton consisted of the communities representing the surface of the northern inshore part with the neritic-warm dinoflagellates, the Northern Korean Cold Water with the cold water diatoms and the southern and offshore part, which seems to represent the Eastern Korean Warm Water, with the warm water diatoms. At the frontal region, diatoms were mixed with warm and cold water species. Primary productivity and phytoplankton standing crops were higher at the front than the neighboring waters. Nutrients were markedly high at the Northern Korean Cold Water. Horizontal advection of the Northern Korean Cold Water accompanied by nutrient supply seems to contribute to the high phytoplankton biomass at the front.

Round ligament pregnancy is very rare form of extrauterine pregnancy and life threatening variant of ectopic pregnancy with high maternal mortality.The incidence ranges from 1/49000 to 1/184000 pregnancies.The clinical characteristics of round ligament pregnancy is variable, and the diagnosis is rarely made preoperatively.We have experienced a case of round ligament pregnancy in a 37-year-old woman and report it with brief review of literatures.
논토양에서 질소비종 및 벼 재배양식이 메탄가스 발생에 미치는 영향

To mitigate the methane emission from rice paddy fields, effects of nitrogen fertilizers source and cultural patterns were evaluated on silty loam soils. And a pot experiment was carried out to find out the effects of nitrogen fertilizers on soil pH, Eh, sulfate concentration of soil water in flooded soil. In transplanting cultivation, the total methane emission depending on fertilizers was 32.9gm^(-2) for urea ; 30.3gm^(-2) for ammonium sulfate ; 26.4gm^(-2) for coated urea. Methane emitted in direct seeding on dry soil was 24.7gm^(-2) for urea ; 16.7gm^(-2) for ammonium sulfate : and 22.8gm^(-2) for coated urea. Thus, the methane emission rate of direct seeding on dry soil was 29.7% lower than transplanting. According to the nitrogen fertilizers, the methane emission rate by ammonium sulfate and coated urea were reduced 18.4 and 15.9% in comparison with urea, respectively. In pot experiments, pH in flooded soils depending on nitrogen fertilizers dereased in order of urea$gt;coated urea≒no fertilizer$gt;ammonium sulfate and the order was coincided with that of total CH₄emission from flooded soil. Soil Eh was highest in ammonium sulfate application followed by coated urea, no fertilizer, urea. And sulfate concentrations of soil water were in order of ammonium sulfate$gt;coated urea$gt;urea$gt;no fertilizer.

Background/Aims: Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) is considered to be a noninvasive, alternative method for evaluating stent restenosis. However, the diagnostic accuracy of 16-channel MDCT for stent stenosis is reported to have severe limitations because of high-attenuation stent-related artifacts. 64-channel MDCT, which recently became available in clinical practice, has better spatial and temporal resolution than 16-channel MDCT. The diagnostic accuracy of 64-channel MDCT for stent restenosis (in-segment and in-stent) was assessed by comparing it with conventional coronary angiography. Methods: In-segment and in-stent restenosis (≥50% in diameter) were evaluated in 96 stent segments in 68 patients [61±12 years, 51 (75%) male] using both 64-channel MDCT and conventional coronary angiography. The in-stent analysis was confined to the portion of the artery covered by the stent and the in-segment analysis included the stent and 5 mm proximal or distal to the stent edges. Results: The 64-channel MDCT could evaluate stent restenosis in 93 of 96 (97%) stent segments. Quantitative conventional coronary angiography found in-segment restenosis (≥50% in diameter) in 16 of 68 (23%) patients and 16 of 96 (17%) segments. For the patients with interpretable stent segments, the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of 64-channel MDCT for in-segment restenosis per patient were 63, 96, 83, and 89%, respectively; per segment they were 63, 97, 83, and 93%, respectively; and for in-stent restenosis per stent they were 82, 98, 82, and 98%, respectively. Conclusions: The diagnostic accuracy of 64-channel MDCT for assessing stent restenosis had high specificity and negative predictive value in the clinical setting. The 64-channel MDCT may be a promising, less-invasive imaging tool for stent restenosis, especially for the purpose of excluding stent restenosis. (Korean J Med 76:434-442, 2009)

A suspended sediment (SS) transport model is developed and internally linked to the CH3D-WES model. The model is based on the mass-balance equations for three size classes representative of the Upper Chesapeake Bay. The first class (3 m) consists of fine particles that are in more or less continual suspension in water column and thus constitute the background concentration. The second class (18 m) consists of medium particles that are alternately eroded and deposited by tidal current and the last class (65 m) of coarse particles that stay at the bed most of the time. No interaction among size classes and no effect of the SS on the hydrodynamic field are assumed. The present model employs an empirical formulation to account for depth-limited erosion by varying the critical shear stress for erosion. ceo as a function of eroded mass. The model is applied to the Upper Chesapeake Bay to simulate annual conditions in 1996. The model is calibrated against acoefficient in the formulation of depth-limited erosion with the intensive data in Sanford et al. (2001) and verified with the Chesapeake Bay Program monitoring data. The three size classes appear to behave as they are intended to and the model gives a reasonable reproduction of the data. not only for intertidal but for intratidal variations in salinity and SS concentration.

A case of quadriplegia resulted from cervical penetrating wound was admitted to chosun university hospital intensive care unit, and undergone steroid therapy and antibiotics therapy. On the 6th hospital day, the septic complication was developed and it proved to be bacterial meningitis by CSF examination. Broad spectrum antibiotics was administered immediately after and the diagnosis and the patient was monitored carefully. The bacterial meningitis was improved and no other serious complication was developed. The patient was discharged with permanent neurologic deficit, quadriplegia.

To investigate the general features of caregiving relatives, and the inpatient's satisfaction with caregiving from their relative cagivers, we analyzed 312 questionnaires from patients admitted in University or General hospitals, Taejeon. The data was collected from 27 January, 1997 though 15 February, 1997. The studied inpatients were 55.8% for female, 44.2% for male and the mean age of those were 43 years old. By family structure of those, two generation family was 56.1%, three generation family was 14.1%, and live alone or just with spouse was 23.1%. 72.4% of caregivers were female, 51.0% were aged 21 to 40 and 43.9% of those were employed in work. The relationship between inpatients and caregivers were 38.7% for spouse, 31. 7% for sons and daughters. Most of relative caregivers stay with patients at the hospital and rest of those don't do because of patients' mild condition(41.3%) or their occupation(34.9%). This result showed there are some patients wish for caregiving from family or others. Large numer of caregivers discomfort with having meal, sleeping place at the hospital but most of patients are satisfacted with caregiving of daily life such as bathing, changing cloths, washing face. Also patients wish for more therapeutic care from their cagivers. As this condition, supporting facilities for caregivers would be reconsidered in the view of hospital satisfaction As this findings suggest that a introduction of supportive caregiving system and depth studies are needed to reconsider the physical, psychological, socioeconomic burden of family with inpatient and to decrease caregiver's burden.
