A computational model of mechanical shaft of existing Seoul subway tunnel was analyzed in this research. The airflow in the sharft and the tunnel was investigated to find installing location of a guide vane. The numerical analysis characterized the aerodynamic behavior and performance of the airflow by solving three-dimensional turbulent Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. ANSYS CFX software was used for the computations. The airflow in the ventilation shaft of the tunnel was investigated by analyzing the mass flow rate. The computational results showed the number and proper installing location of the guide vanes in the mechanical shaft to install the guide vane.
