Electrical Effect on Wettability of a Charged Droplet on Solid Substrates

In this paper, we obtained an analytical expression for the contact angle of a charged droplet placed on an insulatorcovered electrode (case I) and on a solid substrate without the electrode (case II), respectively. We employed the thermodynamic approach. In order to simplify the analysis, we introduced the spherical-cap approximation and neglected any effect of electrical double layer. For the case I, we derived an equation which predicts the contact angle, which is consistent to the Lippmann-Young equation in the conventional electrowetting. For the case II, our analysis indicates the contact angle of a charged droplet monotonically decreases with increasing the magnitude of total charge.

발달장애 아동을 대상으로 한 어린이 낮병원 프로그램의 효과에 대한 후향적 분석

Objectives:The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a day-hospital treatment program designed to help development of children with pervasive developmental disorder (PDD) and mental retardation (MR). Methods:Retrospective review of the charts of 32 children (28 with PDD, 4 with MR), who participated in a day-hospital treatment program of Seoul Metropolitan Eunpyeong Hospital, from October 2008 to February 2012, was conducted. Development level of each patient was evaluated according to the Psycho-Educational Profile-Revised (PEP-R), Social Maturity Scale (SMS), and Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS). Evaluation was done at two points, before participation and after 1 year participation. Results:Children who participated in the day-hospital treatment program showed significant improvement in all categories of PEP-R, SMS, and CARS. Conclusion:Day-hospital treatment program is effective for helping development of children with PDD and MR.

황산에 대한 고등학교 교과서 내용 분석 및 예비교사들의 인식 조사

이 연구에서는 고등학교 과학 교과서와 화학 II 교과서에 제시된 황산에 대한 설명을 분석하고, 화학교육을 전공하는 예비 교사 10명을 대상으로 황산에 대한 인식을 조사하였다. 연구 결과, 고등학교 과학에서 황산이 물에서 2개의 $H^+$와 1개의 $SO_4{^{2-}}$로 해리하는 내용을 제시한 교과서들이 많았다. 그러나 황산은 일차 해리를 하여 1개의 $H^+$와 1개의 $HSO_4{^-}$로 존재하므로 이러한 오류는 수정될 필요가 있다. 화학 II 교과서에서는 황산의 단계별 이온화를 언급하였으나, 일부 교과서에서는 과학 교과서와 같은 오류를 가지고 있었고, 일차 해리된 $HSO_4{^-}$의 경우 약산임에도 불구하고 산의 세기가 센 것으로 표현하였다. 황산에 대한 예비교사들의 사고를 조사한 결과, 95% 황산 수용액과 15% 황산 수용액에 존재하는 입자의 형태를 제대로 이해하지 못하는 경우도 있었으며, 이들의 사고는 고등학교 때의 학습으로부터 영향을 받은 것으로 나타났다. The purposes of this study were to analyze the contents of sulfuric acid in Science textbooks and Chemistry II textbooks, and to survey 10 pre-service teachers' perceptions who majored chemistry education related to sulfuric acid. As results, most of the Science textbooks represented that sulfuric acid was divided into two $H^+$ and one $SO_4{^{2-}}$. But this mistake might be corrected because sulfuric acid was divided into one $H^+$and one $HSO_4{^-}$. Most of Chemistry II textbooks represented ionization steps of sulfuric acid, but same mistake was represented in some of Chemistry II textbooks. $HSO_4{^-}$ is a weak acid, but some Chemistry II textbooks represented $HSO_4{^-}$ as a strong acid. As results of the survey related to pre-service teachers' perceptions, some pre-service teachers didn't know the situation of particles in sulfuric acid solution, and they were affected on by the learning of high school classrooms.
