Recently, foreign countries are making efforts to solve energy saving and high-efficiency technology development, greenhouse gas reduction. The measures to streamline energy demand announced by Korea government are part of the new energy policy defined as raising energy efficiency 25 percent in 2027. The main content is a new fuel economy policy will be introduced for heavy-duty vehicles(HDV) of over 3.5 tons in capacity. In order to implement the fuel economy policy for HDV, it is necessary to calculate the fuel economy of the target vehicle. But it is the fuel economy measurement and calculation method of HDV has not yet been defined in Korea. In particular, there is no method for calculating the fuel economy of CNG buses, which account for the majority of city buses. In this study, a method for calculating the fuel economy of CNG bus, which is not defined in the vehicle fuel economy test, was developed. CNG bus was tested on a chassis dynamometer, and the measured fuel economy and real driving fuel economy were compared and analyzed.
