The presence of high powers of wire and coil diameters, e.g., terms involving d⁴, etc., result in difficulty for gradient methods. The simulated annealing algorithm is especially attractive on the spring optimization problem. The objective is to increase the factor of safety. Since the spring can fail by fatigue or by yielding, our objective is to maximize the smaller of the two safety factors of fatigue and in yielding. To determine the optimum wire diameter d and coil diameter D such that alternating shear stress, mean shear stress, endurance limit, strength, and torsional natural frequency are satisfied. Several optimum design candidates were obtained to avoid resonance and excessive noise in the lock-up clutch of and automatic transmission. The determination of number, location, number of turns, and deflection of damper springs play an important role in reducing vibration and noise in the system. A recent need for a thinner torque converter require the optimum double springs attached to a clutch piston to fit a slender torus case. In this study, change in natural frequencies has been investigated according to short or long travel damper springs.

In this paper, It proposes an algorithm that automatically estimates the initial angle of the rotor of a interior permanent magnet synchronous motor. The conventional passive method for estimating the initial angle takes a long time and its accuracy depends on the operator’s skill. The method of automatically estimating by applying the voltage vector is dependent on the cogging torque characteristics of the motor and the accuracy of the initial angle is reduced. Therefore, we proposed an imbalance algorithm to estimate the optimal initial angle information. The proposed method is applicable to all PMSM motors and useful to initialize to control the motor and verified through actual experiments.

In this paper, it propose the loss separation method for PMSM using MTPA control. It has been defined the loss separation method for induction and AC synchronous motors in IEC60034-2-1. However, for the PMSM (permanent magnet synchronous motor), there is no standards defined for the loss separation method. Therefore, the proposed method is applied to the IPMSM as described in IEC60034-2-1 for induction and AC synchronous motors usingMTPA control method and verified.
