Etherification of n-butanol to din-Butyl Ether was carried out over Keggin H3+xPW12-xNbxO40 (x=0, 1, 2, 3) and H6+xP2W18-xNbxO62 (x=0, 1, 2, 3) Wells-Dawson heteropolyacid catalysts. Niobium-substituted Keggin and Wells- Dawson heteropolyacid catalysts with different niobium content were prepared. Successful preparation of the catalysts was confirmed by FT-IR, ICP-AES, and 31P NMR analyses. Their acid properties were determined by NH3-TPD (Temperature- Programmed Desorption) measurements. Heteropolyacid catalysts showed different acid properties depending on niobium content in both series. The correlation between acid properties of heteropolyacid catalysts and catalytic activity was then established. Acidity of Keggin and Wells-Dawson heteropolyacid catalysts decreased with increasing niobium content, and conversion of n-butanol and yield for din-butyl ether increased with increasing acidity of the catalysts, regardless of the identity of heteropolyacid catalysts (without heteropolyacid structural sensitivity). Thus, acidity of heteropolyacid catalysts served as an important factor determining the catalytic performance in the etherification of n-butanol to din-Butyl Ether.
담도 내에 장기간 플라스틱스텐트 거치 후 발생한 Stent-stone Complex

Plastic biliary stents are commonly used during endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography. Main indication for biliary stenting is benign or malignant obstruction. Plastic stents can be used as an escape route in patients with large common bile duct stones to provide drainage until definitive treatment. But, stent occlusion is the main disadvantage, limiting their patency to around 3 months, after which replacement is recommended. A biliary stent can act as a nidus for the biliary stone formation leading to stent-stone complex after long-term stent placement. This report was a case of a large stent-stone complex after plastic stent placement for 4 years. The stent-stone complex was successfully removed by mechanical lithotripsy and ballon catheter. In all other cases where plastic stents are placed into the common bile duct we should keep in mind that stents can act as nidus for stone formation, as all foreign bodies do.
결핵 및 비결핵성 뇌막염 환자에서 Lysozyme 활성도

N/A Lysozyme activities were measured in sera and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of 8 patients with tuberculous meningitis and 12 patients with non-tuberculous meningitis to differentiate tuberculous meningitis from non-tuberculous meningitis patients admitted to Chonbuk National University Hospital from March 1986 to August 1987. Sera and CSF were analysed for their lysozyme activities by the Freehool method in the Worthington Enzyme Manual. The results obtained were as follows: 1) Serum and CSF lysozyme activities in the control group were 66.8±10.3㎍/min/ml and 0.7±0.9㎍/min/ ml respectively. 2) Serum lysozyme activities in patients with tuberculous meningitis and viral meningitis were 114.46±16.5 ㎍/min/ml and 79.9±18.5 ㎍/min/ml respectively. 3) CSF lysozyme activities in patients with tuberculous meningitis and viral meningitis were 132.5 ㎍/min/ ml and 35.8±12.2 ㎍/min/ml respectively and there was a significant difference between the two groups (p<0.001). 4) Serum lysozyme activities in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis with meningitis and pulmonary tuberculosis without meningitis were 114.76±16.5 ㎍/min/ml and 133.38±55.3 ㎍/min/ml respectively. There was no significant difference between the two groups (p<0.05). CSF lysozyme activities in patients with tuberculous meningitis and tuberculosis without meningitis were 131.5±58.5㎍/min/ml and 3.29±5.8 ㎍/min/ml respectively and this was statistically significant (p<0.001). 5) Lysozyme activities in patients with tuberculous meningitis treated with glucocorticoid returned to the control level in CSF, but not in serum. The above results suggest that determination of CSF lysozyme activities is useful in differential diagnosis between tuberculous meningitis and non-tuberculous meningitis, except for pyogenic meningitis, and is useful in monitoring the clinical course of tuberculous meningitis.

인간의 B형 cyclin B1과 B2는 대부분의 분열세포들에서 발현된다. cyclin B1은 세포분열에 필수 유전자로 알려졌으나 cyclin B2는 그 기능이 잘 알려져 있지 않다. 따라서 그 기능을 파악하기 위하여 인간 cyclin B2 유전자를 분리하여 다양한 조직에 cyclin mRNA 발현을 관찰하였으며 폴리클론 항체를 제작하여 위장의 각 질환별 면역화학염색을 실시하였다. 정상 위 유문부에는 음성이었으나 intestinal metaplasia에서는 대부분에서 양성이었으며 선종 및 선암 등의 상당 예에서 양성 면역염색이 관찰되었으며 이는 MUC2 면역염색과 유사하였다. 이러한 결과로 인간의 cyclin B2는 전구위암질환인 intestinal metaplasia에 발현되며 선종이나 선암에서는 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 따라서 cyclin B2는 점액분비형성에 관련되며 일부 위암의 발암과정에 연관된다고 추정되었다.

The objective of this research is to evaluate optimal conditions of permeability and selectivity on the polysulfone membrane for efficiency of separation of CH4 by checking four factors which are temperature, pressure, gas compositions and gas flow rates. When higher pressure was applied at the input, lower efficiency of recovery of CH4 and higher efficiency of separation of CH4 were shown. It has the tendency to show lower efficiency of recovery of CH4 and higher efficiency of separation of CH4 at the output as higher temperature at input. The lower flow rates make higher efficiency of recovery of CH4 and lower efficiency of separation of CH4. Finally, over 90% efficiency for CH4 separation and recovery conditions are temperature (-5℃), pressure (8 bar), gas composition rate (6:4) (CH4:CO2) and gas flow rate (5 ℓ/min). These conditions make higher separation and recovery efficiency such as 90.1% and 92.1%, respectively.
