Objective : This study is to investigate the effects of oriental medical treatment for cerebral infarction with ankylosing spondylitis. Method : We treated the patients with herbal medicine, acupuncture, rehabilitation and we evaluated these case with Modified Barthel Index score, Motor Assessment Scale score. Results : There are some improvements with their functional independence after oriental medical treatments. Conclusion This clinical data shows significant improvement with their functional independence in 12 weeks, comparing with the initial stage. The more clinical studies of oriental medical treatment for are needed.
단고추 종류와 데침처리에 따른 영양성분 변화 및 잔존율 비교

Purpose: To provide the nutritional information of sweet peppers, we have evaluated changes of nutrient content and retention rates by different sweet pepper types and blanching method. Methods: Four types of raw and blanched ($100^{\circ}C$, 30 sec) sweet peppers were prepared and their weight, nutrient content (3 water soluble vitamins, 10 minerals) and retention rates were analyzed. Results: The weight of blanched sweet peppers was decreased than that of raw sweet peppers. From the results of the two-way analysis, the type of sweet pepper had a greater influence than blanching method used on the thiamine, riboflavin, folate and vitamin C contents (but not niacin) (p<0.05). Red pimento contained the most thiamine (0.1 mg/100 g), riboflavin (0.16 mg/100 g), folate ($47.89{\mu}g/100g$) and total niacin (0.11 mg/100 g). Red paprika contained high levels of riboflavin (0.15 mg/100 g) and folate ($44.96{\mu}g/100g$). Orange paprika contained the highest vitamin C content (116.29 mg/100 g). In addition, the mineral content, with the exception of Se, was strongly influenced by the type of sweet pepper rather than the blanching method (p<0.001). The K content of sweet peppers was higher than other minerals. Overall, after blanching, high retention rates (over 70%) were observed in all types of sweet peppers. However, the retention rates of thiamin, vitamin C and Se showed lower levels (less than 70%). Conclusion: The vitamin and mineral contents depends more on the type of sweet pepper; although vitamin and mineral (except Se) contents showed some changes after blanching. Our results can be utilized to determine the effects of cooking processes on nutritional information.

제품-서비스 통합시스템(Product-Service System, PSS)은 서비스 중심의 패러다임 변화에 대처하고 이를 이용한 새로운 비즈니스 모델의 창출로 경쟁력을 높일 수 있는 새로운 개념으로 제시되고 있다. 제품-서비스 통합시스템은 (1)이해관계자(stakeholder) 요구조건 및 목표 가치 도출 (2)관련자 행위 디자인 (3)PSS 기능 모델링 (4)기능-행위 연계 및 PSS 개념안 생성 (5)PSS 개념안 구체화 (6)PSS 개념안 프로토타이핑의 단계로 이루어진다. PSS 개념만으로는 시장에서의 성공을 보장하기 힘들기 때문에 PSS 디자인 프로세스 안에서는 비즈니스 모델이 뒷받침 되어야 한다. PSS 전략을 도출하기 위하여 다양한 PSS 비즈니스모델 사례를 분석 할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라, 축적된 사례를 바탕으로 새로운 비즈니스모델의 도출도 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 이를 우산대여서비스 사례로 설명하고자 한다. The discussion of this paper starts with a case study using the Product-Service Systems (PSS) design process which being developed by the PSS Design Project Consortium sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy. The proposed PSS stands for systematically integrated planning, concept design and realization design reflecting diverse viewpoint and essentially creates people-centred value. The PSS design process can be broken down into the following 6 major steps: (1) Requirement Identification and Value Targeting, (2) Stakeholder Activity Design, (3) PSS Function Modelling, (4) Function-Activity Mapping and PSS Concept Generation, (5) PSS Concept Detailing, (6) PSS Concept Prototyping (Kim et al. 2011). This paper studies a case of the umbrella rental service which operates in Korea by using proposed PSS design process and conducts to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed PSS design process.

Purpose: To identify the characteristics and physiological function of the nicotinic receptor expressed in human retinoblastoma cells. Methods: We measured possible nicotinic signaling in WERI-Rb-1 cells using the Ca2+ imaging technique and the patch clamp method. Results: 1) Nicotine-induced [Ca2+]i rise arose entirely through Ca2+ influx, which was completely abolished by hexamethonium (100 μM). 2) Nicotine also induced remarkable depolarization from -56.6±3.7 mV to -29.6±3.6 mV (n=4) under current clamp mode, but it failed to directly activate the T-type Ca2+ channel expressed in retinoblastoma cells. Conclusions: Nicotinic activation can increase the intracellular calcium level through calcium influx in the undifferentiated retinoblastoma cells, which may play important roles in cell proliferation, differentiation, and cell death.

Objectives : The object of this study was to obtain acute toxicity information (single oral dose toxicity) of Armeniacae Semen (AS), a medicinal herb used for treating constipation and various respiratory diseases, in rats. Methods : In order to observe the $LD_{50}$ (50% lethal dose), approximate lethal dosage (ALD) and target organs, AS aqueous extracts were orally administered once to female and male Sprague Dawley rats at dose levels of 2,000, 1,000, 500 and 0 (control) mg/kg (body weight). The mortality, changes in the body weight, clinical signs and gross observation were monitored for 14 days after single oral treatment of AS extracts, and the organ weights and histopathological findings of principle organs were observed after sacrifice. Results : After single oral treatment of AS 2,000 and 1,000 mg/kg, all (5/5; 100%) female and male rats died within 30 minutes after treatment, while no mortalities were observed in the female and male rats treated with 500 mg/kg of AS extract. Therefore, $LD_{50}$ in female and male rats was calculated as 741.95 mg/kg. Seizure, loss of locomotion, salivation, increases of respiration and heart-beat were observed after AS extract treatment, which were observed in all rats including the lowest dosage group, 500 mg/kg in the present study. In addition, lung congestion was visible in all mortal rats with AS 2,000 and 1,000 mg/kg, respectively. Conclusions : The results obtained in this study suggest that AS extract ranges in Class III, because the $LD_{50}$ and ALD in both female and male rats were calculated as 741.95 mg/kg and 500~1,000 mg/kg, respectively. However, AS extract should be carefully treated at clinical applications, because salivation, increase of respiration and heart-beat were also observed in the lowest dosage group, 500 mg/kg in the present study.
