Microwave Radiometry is the spectral measurement of eleclromagnetic radiation at frequency bands in the microwave region. One particular application of Microwave Radiometry is for analyzing temperature difffrentials of inside of human body to detect and diagnose pathologic conditions in which the temperature differentials are related with the symptoms of certain diseases. To accomplish this aim, we propose a new calibration method for estimating subcutaneous temperature by Microwave Radiometer and we also suggest a tumor-imitator phantom structure for simulating heat diffusion propagated by tissues around tumors to evaluate the discernment of brighuless temperature difffrentials.

심장의 활동을 전기적 변위로 표현되는 심전도 신호는 심장병 진단에 중요한 임상적 파라미터들을 제공한다. 특히 심전도 신호에서 P, QRS Complex,, T 특징점들로 대표되는 파형 변곡점들의 시간상 위치와 크기 및 형태학적 모양은 심장의 이상 리듬을 나타내는 부정맥여부를 검출하는데 핵심적인 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 특히 QRS complex 구간에 대한 첨도치의 연산 해석을 통하여 정상적인 심전도 리듬과 심실조기수축 부정맥 리듬을 구분하는 방법을 제시하고 또한 스마트폰을 기반으로 하는 심전도 모니터링 시스템에 적용하고자 하였다.

In this study, we propose the unsupervised image segmentation algorithm to estimate dental plaque accumulations on digital imaging with methylene blue disclosed plaque. With this aim, RGB color plane is mapped into HSI coordinates and the circular histogram of Hue is reconstructed by applying Otsu’s threshold level. The histogram distribution on Saturation features is also analyzed by maximizing the variance between a plaque candidate and non-plaque one. The dental plaque regions are resolved by applying the composite decision logics based on the threshold level of Hue and Saturation.

In the ubiquitous health monitoring environments, it is quite important not only to evaluate the physiological health condition but also mental stress condition. In order to achieve this goal, a heart activity monitoring system utilizing a wearable bipolar electrode is devised and the heart rate variability(HRV) is extracted and interpreted in both frequency and time feature domains. Consequently, to evaluate the emotional stress condition of the subjects, a stress-induced experimental protocol was applied to healthy subjects and the time and frequency features of heart activity were analyzed in terms of the ratio of low frequency components v.s., high frequency components and the relevant the moving average distributions compromising the successive RR peaks intervals in the ambulatory ECG measurement system.
Assessment of Premature Ventricular Contraction Arrhythmia by K-means Clustering Algorithm

Premature Ventricular Contraction(PVC) arrhythmia is most common abnormal-heart rhythm that may increase mortal risk of a cardiac patient. Thus, it is very important issue to identify the specular portraits of PVC pattern especially from the patient. In this paper, we propose a new method to extract the characteristics of PVC pattern by applying K-means machine learning algorithm on Heart Rate Variability depicted in Poinecare plot. For the quantitative analysis to distinguish the trend of cluster patterns between normal sinus rhythm and PVC beat, the Euclidean distance measure was sought between the clusters. Experimental simulations on MIT-BIH arrhythmia database draw the fact that the distance measure on the cluster is valid for differentiating the pattern-traits of PVC beats. Therefore, we proposed a method that can offer the simple remedy to identify the attributes of PVC beats in terms of K-means clusters especially in the long-period Electrocardiogram(ECG).

Mean-reverting analysis refers to a way of estimating the underlining tendency after new data has evoked the variation in the equilibrium state. In this paper, we propose a new method to interpret the specular portraits of Premature Ventricular Contraction(PVC) arrhythmia by applying K-means unsupervised learning algorithm on electrocardiogram(ECG) data. Aiming at this purpose, we applied a mean-reverting model to analyse Heart Rate Variability(HRV) in terms of the modified poincare plot by considering PVC rhythm as the component of disrupting the homeostasis state. Based on our experimental tests on MIT-BIH ECG database, we can find the fact that the specular patterns portraited by K-means clustering on mean-reverting HRV data can be more clearly visible and the Euclidean metric can be used to identify the discrepancy between the normal sinus rhythm and PVC beats by the relative distance among cluster-centroids.

In this study, the novel digital filtering algorithms are implemented to suppress the noisy characteristics embedded in ambulatory electrocardiogram signals by an android smartphone platform. With this aim, Graphical User Interface (GUI) is designed and implemented by utilizing multithread-Java programming to realize Finite Impulse Response and Infinite Impulse Response filter. With simulating our implemented digital filters built in an android smartphone, we can find the fact that we can efficiently suppresses the noisy characteristics due to baseline wandering and 60 ㎐ powerline source fluctuations especially in electrocardiograms.

본 연구의 목적은 복강경 수술환경에서 2D와 3D 내시경 비디오 영상이 수술에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위한 연구이며, 이를 위해 3D 내시경 시스템을 구성하고 성능 평가를 수행하였다. 결과적으로 본 연구에서 제안한 3D 방식이 기존의 전자셔터 방식에 의한 3D 영상에 비해 화질과 시야각이 우수하며, 2종류의 모의 수술 실험 비교를 한 결과, 제안한 방식의 디지털 영상을 이용하는 경우가 성능이 가장 우수함을 정량적으로 확인하였다. This paper represents the design of 3D endoscopic video system in order to improve visualization and enhance the ability of the surgeon to perform delicate endoscopic surgery. Minimally invasive techniques have set new standards in all surgical may experience less post-operative discomfort, shorter hospitalization, and quicker recuperation. Finally, the aim of the present study was to determine the influence of 2D and 3D video imaging on defined tasks on a laparoscopic trainer.

본 연구에서는 기존의 청진기를 대체할 수 있으며, 멀티미디어 PC에 연결할 경우 청진음의 저장이 가능하여 병원에 직접 방문하지 않고 가정에서 청진음을 저장하고 초고속 통신망을 통해 병원에 전송함으로써 가정에서도 쉽게 정기적인 검진이 가능한 홈 헬스케어를 위한 무구속 정자청진 모듈을 개발하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 저잡음, 고이득, 저전력 그리고 저전압 구동의 특징을 갖도록 전자청진기용 증폭기를 설계하였으며, 제작된 전자청진 회로를 이용하여 심음 측정에 중요한 요소로 판단되는 집음기를 재질, 크기별로 제작하여 테스트 하였다. This paper describes a wearable electro-stethoscope module for home-healthcare system. The module is consisted of a microphone, an instrumentation amplifier, a filter, a power amplifier etc. and is light and small. The phonogram signal from the module shows good performance. The test for the material and size of the sound collector of the chest piece is performed and the results is reflected on the prototype product. If the module is connected to wired or wireless communication network, so people can check their health without going hospital.
