Structure design of crash pad module to avoid knee modifier is must for acquiring EURO NCAP 5★. In order to remove Knee Modifier (Variable Contact Modifier and Concentrated Loading Modifier), there must not be steel part without padding in the knee inspection zone. In this thesis, the new concept of crash pad for no knee modifier was proposed, and CAE was performed for structural optimization. This new crash pad structure can bring out the problems (the head impact failure, static load failure, idle resonance) by lower stiffness of crash pad structure by the dropping of material strength. In order to prevent these problems and to account for these phenomena from the early design stages, optimal Crash Pad structure was proposed and developed using CAE simulating tool.
