A technology of full-time four wheel drive (4WD) vehicle has developed greatly, and its market share has been extended steadily in resent days. The experimental results of the driving characteristics of a full-time 4WD vehicle are presented in this study. The rig test as well as the on-vehicle test have been done to verify and evaluate the characteristics of a viscous coupling, which is installed in a full-time 4WD system,with comparison of a part-time 4WD [2WD(RWD) & rigid connecting 4WD] one. The experimental results show that a full-time 4WD vehicle has better performance than others, as a viscous coupling distributes the driving torque effectively.<br/>

The accelerated testing technique using the equivalent load condition plays an important part in the automotive industry. However, the theoretical background and advantages of this technique have been on the rise recently. The environmental durability condition forms the foundation of the accelerated testing technique, so it is important to analyze the loading components and damage in service environment. We developed the GUI program for the determination of the accelerated testing condition under the multi-axial loading, and introduce the theoretical background and process for application of the program.

The rubber, which used in parts of automobile, has been applicated in such as antivibration mountings, impact absorbers and flexible couplings Engine mount has the role of holding the automobile engine and absorbing noise and vibrations during the operation. In this study, the fatigue life formula and diagram of compression type engine mount are obtained by the finite element analysis and fatigue life testing under various loading.<br/>

A quater car tester is built for developing an active suspension system. For ride performance a controller adopting the sky-hook control logic is also developed. The results of simulation and test have confirmed that<br/> the ride performance can be successfully increased by the sky-hook control logic in low-bandwidth.<br/>
