Commonly, the heat pump has a short operating time under rated conditions and a long operating time under partial load conditions. However, most heat exchangers are designed to focus on rated conditions rather than partial load conditions. Therefore, in this study, the difference of heat transfer performance was examined by different design of heat exchanger according to partial load conditions. It is important to determine the number of paths because the influence of the number of paths is greatest among design parameters of the heat exchanger. The methodology used is that the optimum path number of the heat exchanger is calculated when the refrigerant heat resistance and the air heat resistance are the same. When the design of the heat exchanger was changed, the maximum and minimum difference in total heat transfer performance was maximum 5.9% and minimum 2.0%.
