The real driving fuel consumption rate of a vehicle is mostly different from the authorized fuel consumption rate. The authorized fuel consumption rate is measured by driving a car on chassis dynamometer following the driving mode which consists of only time-velocity profile. Because road grade has an important influence on the fuel consumption rate, in this paper with the driving modes considering road grade the simulation program to predict the real driving fuel consumption rate is developed. To verify the simulation program. on-road car tests are carried out and the results of the simulation are analysed and compared with those of the experiments
