Spiegel Relaskop 를 이용한 임분조사 (林分調査) 방법

The study was conducted to discuss the theory and practical application of point sampling method using Spiegel Relaskop that can reduce time and expenses with efficiency in field work for stand inventory. An example of the anals-sis for real data was given to help practical foresters easily compute basal area, number of trees and volume per hectare even though the theory of point sampling technique is relatively difficult. Also, a SAS program for personal computer and the handling methods of pocket calculator were provided to easily use the point sampling technique in data analysis.

This study was conducted to provide basic information for deciding silvicultural system appropriate to a natural mixed stand in Jindong-Ri. For this, the stand structure such as DBH distribution, height distribution, and volume per DBH class were analyzed and the possibility of selection cutting as a silvicultural system was discussed. The DBH structure of the stand has reverse J-shaped diameter distribution which is typical in a selection cutting stand. The possibility of selection cutting is also accepted in the height structure by showing multi-storied height distribution of the stand. On the other hand, volume structure per DBH class did not show the mature stand of selection cutting due mainly to the lack of number of trees at 30㎝ DBH class and above. It seems that the unclear part of stand structure should be solved by further studies. Also, the rate of increment for DBH and volume should be estimated to predict the future stand structure.

The natural mixed stand in Jindong-Ri, according to a recent study, showed the possibility of selection cutting as a silvicultural system based on the stand structure such as DBH distribution and height distribution. However, volume structure per DBH class of this stand had not a mature stand of selection cutting. In this study, wherefore, the rate of increment for DBH and volume was used to predict the future stand structure including volume distribution per DBH class. The possibility of selection cutting was then discussed using the future stand structure. From the prediction of future stand structure for 30 years per every 10 years, it could be concluded that the stand will be induced to selection cutting forest because of enough number of trees in objective DBH class and above, total volume per hectare, and the volume of large DBH class which can be harvested every year. However, this stand still did not show the structure of typical selection cutting which has the rate of 1 : 2 : 7 in the number of trees per hectare and the volume rate of 5 : 3 : 2 for large, medium, and small DBH class. This problem could be improved by appropriate silvicultural treatments.

The amount of DBH increment and Schneider's rate of increment were used to pre-dict the future structure of natural deciduous forest. The possibility of inducement to the stand of selection cutting was discussed based on the change of the number of trees per hec-tare and the volume structure of DBH class for next 60 years per every 10 years. Some necessary silvicultural treatments as well as problems involved in process of inducement to the selection cutting were also discussed. From three models of typical selection cutting stands, the possibility to induce to stand to selection cuttting was presented.

Out of this respect the structure of Plenterwald and the Controlmethod are introduced.

The effectivemanagement of the private forest land is pressing. Out of this fact a comparison of cooperative management in private forestry between Germany, Japan and Korea was made. In Germany the Unit-Forestry Office is under a obligation to give advice and technical support to private forestry, so that cooperative works are object-linked and contribute to maintaining the farmhouse strvcture. In Japan the importance of individual and cooperative management in private forestry is acknowledged, but in the era of inland wood the cooperative management involves common use of forest land and precedes to a spacebuilding cooperative system. In Korea the usefulness and possibility of a cooperative management in private forestry is commonly accepted. The pilot project is being transferedr successfully to a covering system over the country. But for the fulfilment of the forest resources plan a operating system is urgently expected.

The lasting development of industrial society is only possible with the unceased support of the nature. The forest, representing the nature, is at its best, when the two functions of the forest, the productive function and the environmental function, coexist in balanced harmony. Forestry in this sense is not merely a simple technics, but a cultural deed in the industrial society. The forestry education therefore has the obligation to produce broadminded foresters who are able to achieve this great task. It seems useful at this moment to study the academic situations of the forest education in Germany, Japan and U.S.A in order to map out the forestry education in Korea.

For the purpose of involving natural deciduous forest, which occupies more than half of our forest area, in the sustained yield system, the structure of a representative natural broad-leaved stand in Pyeonchang is analysed and the possibility of Plentarwald as well as its conditions are discussed.

Two storied forest as a silvicultural system was employed to grope for a method of inducing to age class forest with long rotation age(80 years) for natural deciduous forest in Pyungchang. After the use of two storied forest method through the re-allocation of age class during next three decades, the possibility of sustained yield system was confirmed. The separation of reverse J-shaped diameter distribution into upper and low storey was mainly accomplished by the application of Pyungchang-type shelter wood cutting.

To understand various aspects related to regeneration methods and tending practices for Quercus mongolica-Abies holophylla natural mixed stands, the vertical structure and horizontal distribution of Abies holophylla, the Korean fir, in disturbed mixed stands were investigated. Seedling and sapling advance regenerations of Abies holophylla were found on the forest floor beneath high shade from a mixed broad leaved forest canopy. These seedlings and saplings were showed the suspended growth from and grew very little for an extended time as about 5cm in height with the age of 10 years old, 1.2cm in height with 50 years old, and 2m in height with 60-70 years old. The horizontal distribution of seedlings and saplings of Abies holophylla was subject to restriction by the Sasa borealis(Hack). Makino, condition of soil moisture, boggy ground, and exposed rocks. Because of no appearance of Abies holophylla individual trees between 50 to 110 years old at diameter height(DBH) age(between 100 to 160 years old at collar age)in this stand, we could presume that a disturbance occurred during these periods. However, we could not estimate the magnitude of the disturbance to this natural mixed stand. Silvicultural system associated with regeneration methods and tending practices for this Quercus mongolica-Abies holophylla natural mixed stand are also discussed. These include : 1) possibility of selection method application, 2) time of release from overstory broad leaved tree canopy for growth promotion of Abies holophylla advance regenerations, 3) possibility of Abies holophylla as advance planting for the species of under planting in natural mixed broad leaved forest.
