The flow past a circular cylinder forced to vibrate transversely is numerically simulated by solving the two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations modified by the vibration velocity of a circular cylinder at a Reynolds number of 164. 'The higher-order finite difference scheme is employed for the spatial discretization along with the second order Adams-Bashforth and the first order backward-Euler time integration. The calculated cylinder vibration frequency is between 0.60 and 1.30 times of the natural vortex~shedding frequency. The calculated oscillation amplitude extends to 25% of the cylinder diameter and in the case of the lock-in region it is 6.0%, It is made clear that the cylinder oscillation has influence on the wake pattern, the time histories of the drag and lift forces, power spectral density and phase diagrams, etc. It is found that these results include hath the periodic (lock-in) and the quasi-periodic (non-lock-in) state. The vortex shedding frequency equals the driving frequency in the lock-in region but is independent in the non-lack-in region. The mean drag and the maximum lift coefficient increase with the increase of the forcing amplitude in the lock-in state. The lock-in boundaries are also established from the present direct numerical simulation.
Scopolamine 유도 치매동물모델에서 고려인삼(백삼, 홍삼 및 흑삼)의 기억력 개선 효과

본 연구에서는 백삼이나 홍삼의 기억력 개선 효과 연구를 기초로 흑삼의 기억력 개선효과 여부를 판단하고자 scopolamine으로 유도된 시험동물에게 7주간 시료 물질(백삼, WG; 홍삼, RG; 흑삼, BG) 추출액을 투여한 후, 행동학적인 평가 및 뇌 조직 내 malondialdehyde 농도, ChAT 활성 변 화를 비교 분석하여 기억력 및 학습능력 손상에 대한 개선효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 수동회피시험에서 BG군과 RG군의 latency time이 scopolamine 투여한 PC군(positive control)에 비해서 유의적으로 길어지는 결과를 나타냈다. 수중미로시험에서도 BG군과 RG군의 scopolamine에 의한 기억 손상이 유의적으로 개선되어 NC군의 escape latency 수준 정도로 낮아짐을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 probe test에서도 BG군과 RG군에서 장기 기억력 손상이 유의적으로 개선됨이 확인되었다. BG군과 RG군의 뇌조직 ChAT 효소 활성은 PC군에 비해 각각 42%, 71% 수준의 유의성 있는 활성증가를 보였다. 지질 과산화도 malondialdehyde 측정 결과에서 PC군 대비 RG군과 BG군에서 각각 37%, 33% 수준의 유의성 있는 감소를 보였다. 이상의 결과를 요약하면 시험물질 가운데 흑삼의 반복 경구투여는 scopolamine으로 유도된 흰쥐에서 기억력 감퇴를 개선하는 데 가장 효과적인 것으로 사료된다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mechanism and effects of different types of ginseng on memory improvement in an experimental rat model. In this study, SD rats were induced for memory deficits through scopolamine treatment (1 mg/kg, i.p.) then administrated with ginseng extract for 7 weeks. The rats were divided into five groups: saline (1 mL/kg, NC: negative control), white ginseng (300 mg/kg, WG), red ginseng (300 mg/kg, RG), black ginseng (300 mg/kg, BG), and scopolamine (1 mg/kg, PC: positive control). The step through latency of the BG and RG groups was significantly longer than the PC group in the retention trial of multiple trial passive avoidance test. In the spatial reference memory triads of the Morris water maze test, the latency time of BG and RG was significantly lower than the PC group. In addition, in the prove test, the time spent in the platform quadrant of BG and RG groups were significantly longer than the PC group. Brain choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) activities BG and RG groups significantly increased compared to other groups. On the other hand, the levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) were significantly lower in the BG and RG groups compared to other groups. These result suggested that black ginseng could be useful to enhance learning memory and cognitive function by regulation of cholinergic enzymes.
빈랑자(Arecae Semen)로부터 arecoline의 분리 및 함량분석

The seeds of Areca catechu L. has been used for the treatment of the diseases caused by parasites in East Asia. As a part of a research for standardization of crude drugs, we have determined the content of arecoline in the seeds of Arecae Semen purchased from various regions of Korea. The HPLC method for quantitative analysis of arecoline in Arecae Semen was established and reproducible results and chromatographic isolation of arecoline was accomplished successively. It suggested that the content of arecoline in Arecae Semen was $0.2726\;{\pm}\;0.05532%$.

A commercial CFD code is applied to analyze the 3-D viscous flow field within vertical multi-stage centrifugal pump including impeller with 6 blades and guide vane with 11 blades and is performed by changing flow rate from 10 to 26㎥/h at the constant 3500rpm. The purpose of this 3-D numerical simulation is not only to confirm how much the effect of three kinds of blade inlet breadth (11㎜, 11.5㎜, 12㎜) of impeller has influence On the performance of vertical multi-stage pump but also to make clear the cause about performance difference at the exit side of impeller and guide vane. The vertical multi-stage pump consisit of the impeller, guide, vane and cylinder. The grid of numerical analysis used to the vertical multi-stage pump is 18,000, 45,000, and 100000 cells in case of the impeller, guide vane, cylinder and total grid is 730,000 cells. The characteristics such as total pressure coefficient, total head, shaft horse power, power efficiency at the exit side of impeller and guide vane, discharge coefficient are represented according to flow rage changing.

A method for isolation and qantitative determination of anemarsaponin B from the rhizomes of Anemarrhena asphodeloides has been developed. Isolation of anemarsaponin B was achieved by silica gel and RP-18 column chromatography. The HPLC method for quantitative determination of anemarsaponin B provided a method for standardization of the crude drug. It suggested that the content of anemarsaponin B in Anemarrhena asphodeloides is about 0.12-1.48%.

A commercial CFD code is applied to analyze the 3-D viscous flow field within the impeller of centrifugal pump. Design conditions are based on 75% of design efficiency. Two design conditions (Case1, Case2) with the different blade number and blade outlet breadth are performed by changing flow rate from 8 to 26 ㎥/h at the constant 3500 rpm. The characteristics of Case1 and Case2 such as total pressure coefficient, total head, shaft horse power, power efficiency are represented due to flow rate changing at the 50% position of span direction.

Seven compounds were isolated from the n-BuOH extract of the dried stem barks of Rhus javanica L. On the basis of physico-chemical, spectroscopic evidences and comparison with authentic samples, the compounds $1{\sim}7$ were identified as gallic acid (1), methyl gallate (2), scopoletin (3), scopolin (4), $1,\;2,\;3,\;4,\;6-penta-O-galloyl-{\beta}-D-glucose$ (5), orcinol (6) and $orcinol-{\beta}-D-glucoside$ (7). Among these compounds, scopolin, $orcinol-{\beta}-D-glucoside$ were isolated from this plant for the first time.

The rhizomes of Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge(Labiatae) has been used in Chinese traditional medicine for the treatment of coronary heart diseases and myocardial infarction. As a part of a research for standardization of crude oriental drugs, we have determined the content of tanshinone IIA in Salvia miltiorrhiza purchased from various regions of Korea. The HPLC method by which quantitative analysis was conducted, showed reproducible results and chromatographic isolation of tanshinone IIA was accomplished successively.
