Induction of erythroleukaemia by F - MuLV and Purification of Erythropoietin

Friend Murine Leukemia Virus (F-MuLV) is affective against 2-day old new borns in NFS/n Swiss mice. Infected babies suffer from splenomegaly and anemia at the age of 4-5 weeks beyond which the condition worsens and is fatal. However, the spleen size can be reduced by hypertransfusion for 8 weeks. If left alone after this treatment, the spleen enlarges and becomes palpable again. This time the spleen cells are transplantable and inflict the same disease if injected to normal adults. While these leukemic cells were considered to be hormone-independent, addition of erythropoietin (EPO) was found to be essential for maximum growth in culture. Influence of EPO on the in vivo growth of leukemic cells was indicated by our findings that administration of the hormone caused a more severe leukemia and rapid death while, transfusion of red blood cells, which lowers endogenous EPO, led to increased survival of leukemic mice. It is suggested that hormone-associated therapy may be efficacious in the treatment of this and perhaps, other leukemias. Several erythroleukemic cell lines released factors which stimulated erythropoiesis in vivo and in vitro. A simple five step scheme has been devised which allows purification of this erythropoietic activity to apparent homogeneity. The methods employed included lectin affinity chromatography (wheat germ agglutinin), gel filteration (ultro gel ACA 44), ion exchange, hydroxylapatite, and high performance liquid chromatography, Following polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, biological activity was recovered in an area corresponding to a molecular weight of 35,000 daltons. Silver staining of a polyacrylamide gel after electrophoresis of our most purified preparation revealed a single band of 35,000 daltons.

A visited survey of enterprises participating in public sale of barley was conducted in order to figure out difficulties of producing enterprises by type of grain and to gain information for preparing countermeasures. In case of waxy barley, the supply and demand and the price is quite stable as the production was done under contract. However, due to the lack of certificated seeds, the purity of the waxy characteristic decreases and affects the products‘ quality. This is why the infrastructure development of private seed production and descriptive labeling system is needed. Because of the excessive downward revision of covered and naked barley purchase price, a sharp rise of price seems to appear due to insufficient supply. So, in long terms, it is necessary to have stable supply and demand counterplans and discover new mass markets in case of naked barley. Covered barley now have to the appropriate types supply by the characteristic of processing should be guaranteed by maximizing the benefit of contract production of covered barley. The establishment of a quality grading system is also needed. Moreover, as the processing enterprise should buy and preserve the barley at one time, support for the purchase money and storage facilities are required. 보리 수매중단에 따른 맥종별 원료보리 수급현황과 문제점 및 앞으로의 대응방 안에 대한 기초자료를 얻고자 보리 생산자 단체와 보리 가공업체를 방문하여 조사한 바를 살펴보면1. 찰보리의 경우는 생산농가와 가공업체간에 계약재배가 잘 이루어지고 있으며 가격도 적당한 수준으로 유지되고 있었다. 2. 그러나 찰보리 품종의 보급종 종자가 부족하여 찰보리쌀 제품의 찰성순도가 많이 떨어지고 있어 보급종 종자의 보급 확대와 찰성 순도를 유지하기 위한 품질등급제의 도입이 필요하였다. 3. 쌀보리의 경우는 정부재고물량 감축을 위해 수매가격의 과도한 하향 조정이 있었다. 이로 인한 재배 위축으로 수요물량을 충당치 못하여 가격이 폭등하는 현상을 보였다. 그러나 차후에는 과잉생산으로 인한 가격폭락도 예상되었다. 4. 따라서 쌀보리의 안정적 수급을 위해서는 사료용과 주정용의 일정 수요량을 지속시키는 정책적 판단과 지원이 필요하였다. 5. 겉보리는 그동안 수요량과 공급량이 안정적으로 원활하게 유지되어 왔으나 전체적인 보리수매가의 하락으로 재배면적이 급격히 줄어 공급량 부족으로 인한 가격폭등을 보였다. 6. 겉보리는 다양한 가공용도를 가지고 있으므로 수매제도 폐지에 따른 계약 생산으로의 전환은 가공제품의 품질을 높일 수 있는 기회인만큼 가공적성에 맞는 다양한 품종이 보급되고 가공제품에 대한 품질등급제도가 뒷받침되어야 할 것이다.

The current state of barley processing enterprises and actual conditions of processed products containing barley in circulation have been investigated. This survey was done in order to set up countermeasures for stable supply and demand of domestic barley consequential to the abolition of procurement system of barley. Liquor-excepted barley processing companies were 153, and 17 items of processed products containing barley and 240 processed products were examined. Mixed grain was the most found among the processed products containing barley, followed with polished waxy barley. The price of polished barley products increased as the grain was more processed and waxy. Eco-friendly products were more expensive than normal products on an average of 41% with a range variation of 12% to 93%. Some processed products containing barley were four times more expensive than other same products made by different companies but actually there weren't any special difference among the products in terms of quality. Only 31% of the products known as waxy barley could be accepted as "actual" waxy barley. The rest of them were mixed with non-waxy barley and some of them were even entirely consisted of non-waxy barley. In case of barley malt products, more than a half of them were below the standard of the diastatic power (150 DP). About 24% of the products were below 100 DP which means the product were in a really bad condition. However, there weren't any relation between the quality and price as some bad products were even more expensive than others. Therefore, it can be said that the introduction of a quality grading system is needed for proper quality control of waxy barley or barley malt products.

친환경 Ag-SnO₂ 전기접점재료의 분말야금 공정 최적화

In a view point of environment, the advanced electric contact material without environmental load element such as cadmium has to be developed. Extensive studies have been carried out on $Ag-SnO_2$ electric contact material as a substitute of Ag-CdO contact materials. In the present study, powder metallurgy including compaction and sintering is introduced to solve the incomplete oxidation problems in manufacturing process of $Ag-SnO_2$ electrical contact material. The $Ag-SnO_2$ contact material, fabricated in this study, was actually set in an electric switchgear of which working voltage is 462V and current is between 25 and 40A, for the purpose of testing its performance. As a result, it exceeded the existing Ag-CdO contact materials in terminal-temperature ascent and main contact resistance.

한국무교회주의의 초석 김교신(金敎臣)의 유교적 에토스에 대한 고찰

일제의 식민지라는 시대상황 속에서 무교회정신(무교회기독교)으로 ‘믿어 사는’ 참된 기독교인의 모범된 삶을 살다 간 김교신의 유교적 에 토스에 관한 연구이다. 알려진 대로 김교신은 일본유학을 통해 근대일 본의 기독교를 대표하는 인물인 우치무라(內村鑑三)와의 만남을 통하여 성서를 이해하고 기독교를 이해하였다. 뿐만 아니라, 우치무라 문하의 많은 제자들이 그러했던 것처럼 김교신도『성서조선』이라는 신앙잡지 를 발행하는 문서전도를 통해서 많은 이들에게 용기와 믿음을 주었다. 본 논문은 그의 신앙의 특질을 이해하는 차원에서 유교적 에토스의 문제를 고찰함에 있다. 많은 연구자가 김교신에 있어서 유교와의 관련 을 기독교입신 이전의 하나의 배경적 차원에서만 다루는 경향이 없지 않다. 그러나 실은 입신 이후에 있어서도 여전히 그 정신적 에토스는 연속성을 띠고 있다고 본다. 일본무교회주의의 대표적 인물로서 일제시 대에 신앙적으로 물질적으로 도움을 주었던 야나이하라 다다오(矢&#20869;原 忠雄)씨가 김교신을 가리켜 ‘조선인으로서의 생래의 도덕이 씨에게는 믿음에 의해 한층 순화되어…’라고 한 것도 김교신의 기독교 신앙에 나 타난 유교적 에토스와 관련이 없지 않을 것이다. 특히 본 논문은 김교신이 ‘왜’ 혹은 ‘어떻게’ 기독교에 입신하게 되었 는가를 알 수 있는「入信의 動機」「內村鑑三論에 答하야」라는 그의 글을 실마리로 살펴보고자 한다. 본 논문의 대강을 요약하면, 먼저 1장은 <기독교 입신의 과정에 있어 서의 유학>에서는 공자보다 십 년을 단축하여 ‘종심소욕불유구(&#24467;心所 欲不踰矩)’의 경지에 이르고자 하는 김교신의 내면세계를 확인하고, 다 음으로 2장에서는 <김교신의 유교적 에토스>를『성서조선』의 글을 통 해, 두 가지로 정리해 보았다. 첫째는, 김교신의 ‘好學’정신을 살펴보고 둘째는, 김교신의 求道적 자세와 義의 감응력의 문제를 정리해 보았다. 김교신은 우치무라 간조의 영향하에 철저한 십자가 중심의 신앙을 지 니면서도 도덕적 실천을 지향하는 신앙이라 할 수 있겠다. 이는 달리 말하자면, 예수를 ‘믿음’의 대상인 동시에 ‘배움’의 대상으로 삼는다는 것이다. 이것은 오늘날 예수를 단순히 믿음의 대상으로 고백하기만 하 고 예수처럼 본받고 따르는 삶 즉, 행위(실천적 삶)의 문제를 소홀히 할
