Holographic recording and erasure kinetics in a home-made photopolymer film are investigated as a function of monomer concentration and spatial frequency. We also measured phase shifts of index grating and absorption grating by moving holographic photopolymer gratings along a direction of grating wave vector.

Kodak 649F Plates를 이용한 Dichromated Gelatin 홀로그래픽 감광재 처리 방법 연구

Dichromated gelatin plays an important role to fabricate various kinds of holographic optical elements. In this study, we have investigated the processing method and the characteristics of dichromated gelatin recording materials by using Kodak 649F plates. The processing methods for obtaining high diffraction efficiencies and environmental stability which are necessary for the fabrication of the holographic optical elements are presented. Exposure characteristics, spectral and angular sensitivity, and the degradation of the diffraction efficiency versus time are measured. The maximum diffraction efficiency of the obtained holographic grating is about 90%.
광굴절 결정(BaTiO₃)에서 편광방향에 따른 회절특성

Volume phase gratings in photorefractive crystals have nonuniform amplitude and phase due to energy exchange by the writing beams within the material. For a read-out beam of arbitrary intensity, the diffraction efficiency is a nonlinear function of reading beam intensity and depends on the polarization of writing beams as well as the read-out beam polarization. It is found that the diffraction efficiency represents a nonreciprocity with respect to the polarization of the writing and reading beams. These polarization dependences of photorefractive gratings are studied here.

We designed and fabricated a reflection-type holographic interference filter in a dichromated gelatin film. The relationship between center wavelength and recording angles was derived by wsing coupled wave theory in detail. The variations of center wavelength of the filter were predicted theoretically measured in terms of recording angles.

In order to assess the image quality of Cathode Ray Tube(CRT), we measured the contrast modulation using linear charge-coupled device (CCD) imager in real-time which characterizes the resolution of color CRTs. The measurement was made at four locations on the screen with the contrast level being changed. Modulations transfer function (MTF) was obtained by taking the Fourier transform of intensity distribution in which the Gaussian approximation was used to consider the sampling effect of measured pixels due to pixels to shadow mask.

The optical pattern recognitions are carried out for a circular function, namely, a ring shaped pattern. The ordinary difficulties in placing back the matched filter to its original position exactly have been overcome by processing the hologram at-the-position, that is, the matched filter just photographed will be promtil developed, fixed and rinsed out at its own place without removing it to process. In focusing the filter a bare strip of transparent film was set up on the film mount, and through observation with a magnifying lens from the rear of the film the exact position of the focal plane could be determined. The comparision of the results shows that the at-the-position method could be acceptable by wider users of such experiment like this one.
Holograghic PDLC의 제작 및 홀로그램의 전기광학 특성

We have fabricated PDLC and Holographic PDLC films by using PIPS method and measured an optical transmittance of PDLC and a real time diffraction efficiency of HPDLC wite applied electric fields. It is shown that the holographic gratings are switchable by turning on and off of applied fields.
