In April, 1996, seismic experiments were carried out in Kangwon province by the Seismological Institute of Hanyang University(SIHY). Several explosions are recorded through the whole experiments. The study here is to present preliminary results of (a) source parameters determined by using polarization method as well as the travel time method; (b) the shallow substructure determination by using pS converted waves. So study here is of interest for future study as well as further experiment.
Preliminary Crustal Studies of the Korean Peninsula Using Lg-coda Q

In this study, we attempt to investigate the Lg coda Q distribution in the Korean peninsula, which is closely associated with the crustal structures in this area, by using the Stacked Spectral Ratio(SSR) method(Xie and Nuttli, 1988). The data used in thin study are earthquakes and explosions locally recorded at the KIGAM seismic array, SIHY(the Seismological Institute of Hanyang University), KSRS station and IRIB station. The coda Q values determined can provide an overall picture for the attenuation property of the upper crust beneath the peninsula. At last we determine the distribution pattern of Q_0 values through the peninsula, which can be interpretated in the perspective of seismic tomography.
