        The Porous SilMA Hydrogel Scaffolds Carrying Dual-Sensitive Paclitaxel Nanoparticles Promote Neuronal Differentiation for Spinal Cord Injury Repair

        BACKGROUND: In the intricate pathological milieu post-spinal cord injury (SCI), neural stem cells (NSCs) frequently differentiate into astrocytes rather than neurons, significantly limiting nerve repair. Hence, the utilization of biocompatible hydrogel scaffolds in conjunction with exogenous factors to foster the differentiation of NSCs into neurons has the potential for SCI repair. METHODS: In this study, we engineered a 3D-printed porous SilMA hydrogel scaffold (SM) supplemented with pH-/temperature-responsive paclitaxel nanoparticles (PTX-NPs). We analyzed the biocompatibility of a specific concentration of PTX-NPs and its effect on NSC differentiation. We also established an SCI model to explore the ability of composite scaffolds for in vivo nerve repair. RESULTS: The physical adsorption of an optimal PTX-NPs dosage can simultaneously achieve pH/temperature-responsive release and commendable biocompatibility, primarily reflected in cell viability, morphology, and proliferation. An appropriate PTX-NPs concentration can steer NSC differentiation towards neurons over astrocytes, a phenomenon that is also efficacious in simulated injury settings. Immunoblotting analysis confirmed that PTX-NPs-induced NSC differentiation occurred via the MAPK/ERK signaling cascade. The repair of hemisected SCI in rats demonstrated that the composite scaffold augmented neuronal regeneration at the injury site, curtailed astrocyte and fibrotic scar production, and enhanced motor function recovery in rat hind limbs. CONCLUSION: The scaffold’s porous architecture serves as a cellular and drug carrier, providing a favorable microenvironment for nerve regeneration. These findings corroborate that this strategy amplifies neuronal expression within the injury milieu, significantly aiding in SCI repair.       • Monitoring and Early Warning Technology and Engineering Application of Brittle Rock Landslide Based on Dynamic Index

        Brittle rock landslide has been a hot issue in the study of geological hazards for many years. Because of its sudden disintegration, it is difficult to prevent and control, which will pose a serious threat to human life and property. In this paper, the dynamics monitoring index is introduced, and the indoor monitoring experiment is carried out on the whole process of brittle rock slope instability by laser vibration measurement technology. It is found that the early warning timeliness of the dynamic index is significantly better than the conventional displacement index, and the dynamic monitoring index can effectively reflect changes in physical and mechanical characteristics of the sliding surface, and thus can be used to dynamically and quantitatively analyze the rock mass damage and stability. In addition, using high precision Micro-electromechanical accelerometers combined with advanced computer and communication technology to develop a monitoring and early warning system for real-time acquisition, threshold triggering and remote wireless transmission of slope dynamics characteristic parameters. During the period of 2018, the system was applied to the successful early warning and risk aversion of the slope instability of the Houziyan Hydropower Station in Sichuan, China, which verified the effectiveness and practicability of the monitoring and early warning methods and systems based on the dynamic index.

        Intestinal segment and vitamin D3 concentration affect gene expression levels of calcium and phosphorus transporters in broiler chickens

        Two experiments were conducted in this research. Experiment 1 investigated the spatial expression characteristics of calcium (Ca) and phosphorus (P) transporters in the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum of 21-day-old broilers provided with adequate nutrient feed. Experiment 2 evaluated the effects of dietary vitamin D3 (VD3) concentration (0, 125, 250, 500, 1,000, and 2,000 IU/kg) on growth performance, bone development, and gene expression levels of intestinal Ca and P transporters in 1–21-day-old broilers provided with the negative control diet without supplemental VD3. Results in experiment 1 showed that the mRNA levels of calcium- binding protein 28-kDa (CaBP-D28k), sodium-calcium exchanger 1 (NCX1), plasma membrane calcium ATPase 1b (PMCA1b), and IIb sodium-phosphate cotransporter (NaPi-IIb) were the highest in the broiler duodenum. By contrast, the mRNA levels of inorganic phosphate transporter 1 (PiT-1) and 2 (PiT-2) were the highest in the ileum. Results in experiment 2 showed that adding 125 IU/kg VD3 increased body weight gain (BWG), feed intake (FI), bone weight, and percentage and weight of Ca and P in the tibia and femur of 1–21-day-old broilers compared with the negative control diet (p < 0.05). The rise in dietary VD3 levels from 125 to 1,000 IU/kg further increased the BWG, FI, and weights of the bone, ash, Ca, and P (p < 0.05). No difference in growth rate and leg bone quality was noted in the broilers provided with 1,000 and 2,000 IU/kg VD3 (p > 0.05). Supplementation with 125–2,000 IU/kg VD3 increased the mRNA abundances of intestinal Ca and P transporters to varying degrees. The mRNA level of CaBP-D28k increased by 536, 1,161, and 28 folds in the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum, respectively, after adding 1,000 IU/kg VD3. The mRNA levels of other Ca and P transporters (PMCA1b, NCX1, NaPi-IIb, PiT-1, and PiT-2) increased by 0.57–1.74 folds by adding 1,000–2,000 IU/kg VD3. These data suggest that intestinal Ca and P transporters are mainly expressed in the duodenum of broilers. Moreover, the addition of VD3 stimulates the two mineral transporter transcription in broiler intestines.

        Diversity, Interspecific Interaction and Abundance of Undergrowth in Monocultures and Integrated Systems of Natural Rubber Plantation in Danzhou, Southern China

        The negative impact of monoculture rubber plantations on biodiversity and associated ecological processes/ecosystem services has led to suggestions on the use of integrated land use systems for rubber cultivation and production in order to ensure environmental sustainability. However, there is paucity of information on the effect of such integrated land use systems on the diversity and abundance of the rubber plantation undergrowth. We evaluated and compared undergrowth plant species composition, richness, abundance, diversity and interaction, in three integrated systems (Rubber-Strelitzia reginae Integrated System - RSrIS, Rubber-Podocarpus nagi Integrated System - RPnIS & Naturally Managed Rubber Plantation - NMRP) with three Rubber Monoculture Plantations (RMP<sub>1</sub>, RMP<sub>2</sub> & RMP<sub>3</sub>) adjacent to the integrated systems, respectively, at the Investigation and Experiment Station of Tropical Crops, Danzhou, Hainan, China. Undergrowth species density was higher in the rubber monocultures than in the integrated systems except in RSrIS. Species richness and diversity were also higher in the monocultures except in NMRP. Species similarity/interaction between the monocultures and the integrated systems was highest between RMP<sub>3</sub> and NMRP. The NRMP proved to be the best model of natural rubber integrated system for the conservation of undergrowth species richness, diversity and interspecific interaction. However, the conservation of undergrowth species in other forms of integrated natural systems can be enhanced by considering the ecology of species to be integrated in terms of their growth characteristics, competitive nature, and ability to grow in association with other species.

        New versions of Nuclide Guide (NG) and Chart of the Nuclides (CN) were developed as a result of Russian-Chinese collaboration. Compared to the previous versions of the NG and CN - 2006 new evaluated information has been included to the NG and CN - 2009 from the following publications: 1) Nuclear Data Sheets, volumes 107 - 110, 2) Monographie BIPM-5, Table of Radionuclides, 2006, 3) Monographie BIPM-5, Table of Radionuclides, 2008. In addition, for the Nuclide Guide-2009 the authors re-calculated the average energies of radiations of the 500 radionuclides with half-lives about and more than 1 hour. The International Chart of Nuclides was developed taking into account information added and revised in Nuclide Guide-2009. The presented decay data can be used not only in nuclear physics and associated fields but also in medicine, agriculture and space studies.

      • A Stray Capacitances Model of Inductors with Partial Layer of Windings

        With the high precision requirements of electronic devices, more accurate analysis and modelling of stray capacitance is required in order to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) from the stray capacitance in inductors. This paper proposes an improved analytical model of the stray capacitances of the inductor, which takes into account the capacitances between the windings and the central limb, the side limb and the yokes of the core. A general model of the stray capacitance with each winding as a complete layer is calculated, and the potential of the floating core is derived analytically. For the case of a partial winding layer near the side limb, calculations are derived and the stray capacitance changes are compared for different winding layers. Finally, the stray capacitance model of the partial layer is verified by finite element simulations and experimental results on the prototype.
