Using ternary combination of metals for catalytic materials of anodes in the DMFCs was investigated. In this work, W, In, Cd, and C were added to PtRu black powder to fabricate the anodes for the first time. W and In have showed the significant enhancement of the DMFC performance. In the In case performance was enhanced significantly for the anodes that contained 10 and 20% Indium. Like indium, the tungsten anodes showed the significantly improvement. The MEAs whose anodes contained 5 and 20% W showed the enhancement. At higher temperatures (80 and 90℃), the MEA whose anode contained 20%W showed the best performance. But its performance deteriorated significantly at lower temperatures, while the 5%W anode still performed well. Besides, pretreatment of the anodes also appeared to affect on performance of DMFCs at 200℃. In order to recycle the methanol solution, the methanol solution has been reused several times until the corresponding performance changed noticeably.
