The purpose of this study is to present the implications of employees' emotional management by examining the effects of emotional dissonance on their negative job outcome and the moderate influence of organizational support and personal coping strategy.
The total of 166 samples were collected from the employees of hotel and family restaurant in Seoul. The collected samples were analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, cluster analysis, canonical correlation analysis, and regression analysis by SPSS for Windows. The summary of findings are as follows:
First, emotional dissonance appeared to have an influence on negative job outcome such as intention to quit and emotional exhaustion as well as job stressor.
Second, the organizational support was found to lead positive effects on decreasing an intention to quit under emotional dissonance.
Finally, the findings indicated that active coping strategy reduced job tension by emotional dissonance and moderated other negative effects.
These results suggest that the management should pay attention to emotional aspects of service employees in hotel and restaurant industry.
