The purpose of this study is to analyze the differences of job stress according to the teachers' gender, career, marital state, official responsibilities and the period of their service
The subjects were 352 teachers working at 12 secondary schools in Daejeon Metropolitan city. Scales used in this study were the teachers' job stress checklist and MBI(Maslash burnout Inventory).
The results of this study are as follows:
First, female teachers experienced more stress and burnout than male teachers in 'bureaucratic administration' and 'work overload' factors and in 'depersonalization' and 'decrease in feeling of achievement'. On the other hand, related with 'low treatment', male teachers experienced more stress than female teachers and married teachers experienced more stress than unmarried teachers, while unmarried teachers experienced more stress than married teachers in 'decrease in feeling of achievement' factor.
Middle school teachers experienced more stress than high school teachers in 'bureaucratic administration', 'low treatment' and 'decrease in feeling of achievement' which is a subordinate factor of burnout.
The teachers in charge of classes experienced more stress than others in 'bureaucratic administration' and 'disharmony and conflict' factors and common teachers experienced more stress than the teachers in managerial level in a 'disharmony and conflict' factor.
According to the length of service, teachers who served for 10-19 years recognized more stress than others.
Finally, the subordinate factors of job stress have weak positive correlations with the subordinate factors of burnout according to the correlation analysis.
