開化期 朝鮮語辭典의 出版構造에 관한 硏究 = Study on a structure of publication of the Korean dictionary in the flowering time of civilization

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This is to analyze and study the current state of publication of the Korean dictionary, a bibliographic consideration and a structure of its publication based on its printed book relating to the Korean dictionary at the end of Chosen Dynasty. It was in the Journael van de ongeluckighie Voyagie van 't Jacht de Sperwer of H. Hamel that the Korean language which had been studied by a Westerner appeared as a record for the first time.
Korean language which attracted attentions of many explorers, missionaries, scholars after that time has been introduced from time to time. Undoubtedly, their study was not so worthy of close attention and as well, it was limited to introduce some vocabularies only so that their linguistic value was extremely insignificant. Opyt Russko-Korejskage Solvarja published by a Russian M. Putsillo in 1874 was the first instance of the Korean dictionary. After then, A concise dictionary of the Korean language in two parts Korean-English ＆ English-Korea had been published by H. G. Underwood in 1890, English-Corean dictionary by J. Scott and Parvum Vocabularies Latino-Doreanum by A. N. Daveluy in 1891, Korean-English dictionary by J. S. Gale in 1897, Korean words and phrases by J.W.Hodge in 1898, Petit Dictionnaire Francois-Coreen by Ch. Ale've^que in 1901 and Opyt Kratkago Russko-Korejskago Slovarja by M. Mashanov in 1904.
I think it will be meaningful to study how publication and print of such Korean dictionary was made and in what form it was published. Thus through this study, I would like to focus on what publication of the Korean dictionary did for in the Korean publication history by complementing correctly the history on the culture of publication.
This study will treat the following themes for research.
(1) What is the background of publishing the Korean dictionary and its current state?
(2) What is the bibliographic matters about the Korean dictionary?
(3) What is the structure of publication for the Korean dictionary?
For discussion about the above theme (1), first of all I looked into reference bibliography concerning the culture of publication at the flowering time, the end of the Chosen Dynasty and the current state of publication for the Korean dictionary.
As for the theme (2), I have studied the accurate bibliographic matters of each edition, centering on the printed books of the Korean dictionary.
Study on the theme (3) was made in the publishing industry relating terms such as writing, editing, production, adn distribution. As for writing, editing, production and distribution I analyzed and studied author; Korean printing type, print·circulation, and advertisement·price·reader, respectively.
