This study shows the effects of the mother-child theraplay on the interactions between mother and a child by applying the theraplay to the mother-child interaction play. The main issue of this study is, what kinds of effects do the mother-child theraplay program have on the child interactions? what kinds of effects do the mother-child theraplay program have on the mother interactions?
To accomplish the purpose of this study, 6 mother-child pairs were selected as an experimental group and compared with the control group. Mother-Child theraplay program took place at A preschool located in Busan Metropolitan City. The experiment were carried out times per week for six weeks (totally 12 times). The design of experiment for this study is pretest-posttest Control Group Design. In this study, P-CIPA(Parent-Child Interacion Play Assessment) were used to know a change of mother-child interaction. The graph was employed to record the number of the change of playbehavior of mother-child for each term. In addition, after this kind quality analysis recorded tape including all of term have been analysis and evaluated. The results from this study are as fellows:
First of all, the mothert-child theraplay is adequate for a mother-child experience program.
Secondly, the mother-child theraplay is also useful as a program that relieves tension and problems between an aggressive child and an imperative and interfering parent.
Thirdly, the mother-child theraplay can be a source of linguistic and physical interactions between a parent and a child through repetitions of interesting verbal and physical interactions.
