The purpose of this study is to find out what effect Mandala Art Therapy Program has on the aggression and the anxiety of Elementary children.
For this study, proposed the following questions:
First, what is the effect of Mandala Art Therapy Program on the aggression of Elementary children?.
Secondly, what is the effect of Mandala Art Therapy Program on the anxiety of Elementary children?
This research was carried out on the subject of 20, 6th graders of D elementary school in Busan.
Each 10 members were randomly assigned to an experimental group and a control group.
Mandala Art Therapy Program was carried out on the experimental group 16 sessions in total(60 minutes a session, from October 20th to December 30th, 2003), while nothing was carried out on the control group.
The data was analyzed by ANCOVA and t-test through SPSS WIN 10.0 program.
The results of the study were as follows.
First, there is no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the score of the aggressive behaviors.
Secondly, the subjects who participated in the Mandala Art Therapy Program showed that their score of anxiety had been decreased significantly.
Thirdly, the subjects who participated in the Mandala Art Therapy Program reported that their score of the aggressive behaviors and the anxiety had been decreased after every session.
The conclusion based on the results of this study are summarized as follows:
Mandala Art Therapy Program has effect to decrease the aggression and the anxiety of Elementary children who showed high tendency of the aggression and the anxiety, and to increase their self-efficacy.
Therefore, it is proved that Mandala Art Therapy Program is effective for the Elementary children who showed high tendency of the aggression and the anxiety to decrease their aggression and anxiety, to accept themselves and to increase their self-efficacy.
