With increased time for leisure, the need for experience-base accommodation like Homs-stay is expected to increase. Though some research has been conducted to investigate Home-stay related issues, few has focused them from a user perspective.
The purpose of this thesis was to fill this gap. More specifically, major points of interests were: first, which aspects of Home-stay related attributes users were perceived as important in using Home-stay facilities and what ware their levels of satisfaction on the attributes; second: were there any differences among users who were grouped into based on the locational characteristics of the facilities, and third, what were the practical implication of the research results. To investigate these interests, an on-site survey was conducted during the early of August, 2004. A total of 326 questionnaires were collected from a conveniently selected sample. Data was analyzed with SPSS 10.0 version. X^(2) analysis, ANOVA with a post-hoc analysis, and IPA(Importance-performance Analysis).
Results showed that there were some differences in terms of demographic and behavioral characteristics among the groups. Results also revealed that the groups had statistically different perceptions on the importance on and satisfaction with some Home-stay related attributes. IPA used to suggest some practical implications on Home-stay management along with some limitations of the thesis.
