First, I divided 20 students in second year into two groups; a experimental and controlled group and I've examined them for two months. I made the experimental group join the program for bibliotheraphy once a week, for 10 weeks.
I used the scale made by Rosenberg and Coopersmith for examining students' self-esteem and 'Internal External Control Scale' by Rotter which are appropriately revised for Korean by Jae-ho Cha, Jung-ja Kong, Chul-su Kim.
Making Situational Reading lists was based on the lists made by Korean Library Association, considering various reading situation0an could be happened to the middle school students. The basic principles of bibliotherapy were involved in the reading strategies.
SPSS is the program for examining the change of students' self-esteem before and after practicing the bibliotherapy program. I .. the frequency and percent to grasp the general trait of the subjects. I examined the common quality in the two groups and used 'paired-t' to check the meaningful change in self-esteem and internal control of the groups.
The results I got through this procedure are as follows
First, for the middle school students, the bibliotherapy was proved to be effective to their self-identity. The bibliotherapy was proved to be effective to the Ego-Identity of the middle students as well as university students.
Second, The bibliotherapy in experimental group showed few meaningful difference. Therefore study examines the effect of self-expression training on reducing anxiety and self-esteem in primary school children.
