유아의 과외활동과 어머니의 과외활동 만족도 및 스트레스와의 관계 : 부산지역 원아를 중심으로 = (A) study on the relations between children's extra-curricular activities and their stress and mothers' satisfaction with them

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 유아의 과외활동 수 및 과외활동 유형에 따라 유아의 스트레스에 차이가 있는지, 과외활동에 대한 어머니의 만족도와 유아 스트레스와의 관계는 어떠한지를 분석하는데 목적을 두었다.
본 연구는 이와 같은 목적을 위해 다음과 같은 연구문제를 설정하였다.
1. 유아의 과외활동 현황은 어떠한가?
2. 유아의 과외활동과 스트레스 정도와의 관계는 어떠한가?
1) 유아의 과외활동 수에 따라 스트레스는 차이가 있는가?
2) 유아의 과외활동 유형에 따라 스트레스는 차이가 없는가?
3) 유아의 과외활동에 대한 어머니의 만족도와 스트레스간의 관계는 어떠한가?
본 연구의 대상은 부산시내 유치원에 다니는 만 3~5세 유아 158명과 그들의 어머니였다. 연구도구는 최영란(2001)과 박영양(2001)의 연구에서 사용한 질문지를 재구성한 유아의 과외활동 현황 및 과외활동에 대한 어머니의 만족도에 대한 질문지와 박영양(2001)이 일상적 스트레스 중 과외활동에 관련된 유아의 스트레스를 측정하기 위해 사용했던 유아의 스트레스 검사를 사용하였다. 유아의 과외활동 현황을 알기 위해 반응의 빈도와 백분율을 구하였다. 유아의 과외활동과 스트레스 정도와의 관계 분석을 위해서 과외활동 수에 따른 스트레스 점수의 차이, 과외유형에 따른 스트레스 점수의 차이를 각각 t검증과 F검증을 실시하였으며 과외활동에 대한 어머니의 만족도와 스트레스 관계를 알기 위해 Pearson의 적률상관계수를 구하였다.
이러한 연구 분석에 따른 결과는 다음과 같았다.
첫째, 과외활동 현황을 살펴보면, 84.2%의 유아들이 과외활동에 참여하고 있었으며, 언어, 수리 · 탐구활동 유형에 참여하는 유아, 주별 과외활동 시간이 4시간 이하인 유아, 월 과외활동 비용이 15만원 미만인 유아가 가장 많았다. 어머니의 50.4%는 과외활동비에 대한 경제적 부담감을 느끼고 있었다.
둘째, 유아의 과외활동과 유아의 스트레스는 관계가 있었다. 즉, 과외활동을 많이 할수록 유아는 스트레스를 많이 받고 특히 만 3~4세의 어린 유아의 경우 과외활동 수에 따른 스트레스 정도가 높았다. 또한 과외활동 유형에 따른 스트레스의 차이를 살펴본 결과 수리 · 탐구활동에 참여하는 유아의 '자존심상함' 스트레스가 가장 높았다. 과외활동에 대한 어머니의 만족도와 유아의 스트레스는 유의한 관계가 없었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This research had its purpose to analyze whether there were any differences in stress according to the frequency and types of children's extra-curricular activities and whether there is any relationship between mothers' degree of satisfaction and children's stress about the extra-curricular activities.
The subjects of this research were 158 children from age 3 to 5 attending kindergartens in the Busan Metropolitan City and their mothers. A questionnaire asking children's present status of the extra-curricular activities and mothers' degrees of satisfaction with them and Children's Stress Measurement related to their extra-curricular activities were used as research instrument. To analyze the relationship between children's extra-curricular activities and degrees of stress, t-test and ANOVA were used. The Pearson's correlation was calculated to analyze the relationship between mothers' degree of satisfaction and the children's stress about the extra-curricular activities.
Conclusions according to the analysis of research questions were as follows:
First, 84.2 percent of children were participating in the extra-curricular activities after school. Most of them were involved in the field of languages, mathematics, and scientific investigation activities. The majority were involved in the extra-curricular activities four hours or less per week expending 150,000 Won or less per month. 50.4 percent of mothers feel financial stress about the expenses for the extra-curricular activities.
Second, there was relationship between the extra curricular activities and stress of children. The more they were involved in the extra-curricular activities, the more stress they received. Especially children from age three to four showed high stress rate according to the frequency of the extra-curricular activities. And according to the result of the analysis of stress caused by the types of the extra-curricular activities, children who were involved in the field of mathematics and science activities showed high stress rate on 'self-respect hurting'. There was no specific relationship between mothers' degree of satisfaction and children's stress about the extra-curricular activities.
