This study aims to analyze what differences are shown in the relationship between parent's fostering attitude recognized by elementary school students and their problem behaviors according to sex, region, order of birth, parents' education and living standard, what interactions are made among these variables and the effects of parents' fostering attitude on child's problem behaviors.
The objects of this research are randomly sampled from the 207 elementary students in the 5th and the 6th grade in Mokpo and the 206 elementary students in the 5th and the 6th grade in rural area. It uses 「Parents' Fostering Attitude Test Paper」 and 「Test Paper of Child's Problem Behaviors」as the research instruments. Statistical processing uses SPSS/PC program. The mean of statistical data (M) and standard deviation (SD) related to independent and dependent variables for the analysis of this study are obtained, difference and correlation analysis is conducted for solving research problems and test is made below significance level '.05'.
The results of this study are summarized as follows;
First, parents' fostering attitude recognized by elementary students showed more significant difference in girl students than in boy students, in urban area than in rural area and in fathers with higher education , but there is little difference in fostering attitude by mothers' education. According to the order of birth, the first son or daughter howed more significant difference than others.
Second, child's problem behaviors are higher in boy students than in girl students and children in rural area showed more significant difference than those in urban area. Overprotective behaviors of children are frequent as mothers' education is low. There is no significant difference according to the order of birth and fathers' education.
Third, there is a negative correlation throughout sub-areas of problem behavior types in affection which is a sub-area of parents' fostering attitudes recognized by elementary students.
