Pensions have been rapidly increased not only in Jeju but also as a nation-wide phenomenon and preference and the rate of utilization on them are also growing. However, no systematic researches and studies have been made and so it's raised a necessity to study on what features users consider the first when they select pension and what factors influence on the features.
Based on this, the study is to propose a role of tourist accommodation offering better service by analyzing pension selective attributions of tourists, form of pension chosen by tourists and tourist type which influence on the attributions surveying tourists use condominium style pension in Jeju area. Followings are the results of the survey:
Firstly, it's appeared sanitary and cleanliness are the major concerns, followed by resonable price, kindly service and safety.
Secondly, there are differences on pension selection by number of visit, purpose of visit and expenses of users.
Thirdly, there are no differences on pension selection by user types.
Based on these results, pensions should prepare following facilities to meet requirements as a tourist accommodation offering better service.
Firstly, pensions should designated a specialized laundry and cleaning company.
Secondly, pensions should have a reliable room rate mechanism.
Thirdly, pensions should have a regular training program for employees and employers to upgrade their service.
Forth, pensions should keep a beautiful scenic environment.
Fifth, pensions should operate shuttle buses scheduled on the time table.
Sixth, pensions should introduce a reservation system.
Lastly, pensions should be equipped with internet lines and have facilities for night life.
It's expected that the study has a limit to find out exact pension selective attributions of tourists because there are differences on form of accommodation chosen by tourists by low and high season in Jeju. There will be also a regional preponderance because it's not cleary classified between condominium style home stay and pension as Jeju is excluded from juridical governance by a law related to tourist pension and the pensions surveyed are limited to in Jeju area.
Therefor, further systematic study should be made inclusive of a new selective attribution along with a nation-wide research on pension business as pension users' recognition is growing when the tourism promotion law on pension is stipulated.
