There are big changes in educational methods with the development of the Internet. Various kinds of web-based teaching and learning materials are being developed and distributed. Information in conventional textbooks in the form of prints was limited and second dimensional. Recently, web-based electronic textbooks were developed that can be used anywhere and anytime as an alternative to printed materials, and distributed to schools. Especially, in Elementary school Sociology, research of subject education experts and academic achievements of the students would be improved significantly by utilizing electronic textbooks with various multimedia data.
When analyzing the perception level of teachers on electronic textbooks through a four point survey, the average points for 'Perception on the site accessibility and usability' was 3.37, the average points for 'Perception on the design of Learning-Teaching' was 2.94, 'Perception on the class progress (operation)' was 2.71, the average points for 'Perception on the validity and accuracy of the content' was 3.19, the average points for 'Perception on Interface design' was 3.15, and the average points for 'Perception on Multimedia' was 3.58. Although the perception on web multimedia, and the response to site accessibility and usability was very positive, the perception of the design of Learning-Teaching and the perception of the class progress (operation) were relatively low.
In the perspective of academic achievements of the learners, the academic achievement was high in knowledge-understanding areas and functional areas. but there was no significant difference in value and attitude aspects. Therefore, web electronic textbooks, which are effective not only in cognitive areas but also in emotional areas, should be developed.
The level of perception of teachers on the web electronic textbooks and academic achievements of the students studied and analyzed in this study will show the direction of electronic textbook development in the future.
