청소년 단체활동 경험과 청소년 리더십 생활기술 관계연구 : YWCA 청소년 회원활동을 중심으로 = (A) study on the relationship between youth organization activities experience and youth leadership life skills : in the focusing of the youth membership activities in YWCA

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 생활기술(life skills)이 지식과 기술 사용 능력, 커뮤니케이션, 건강유지, 리더십 능력, 합리적인 의사결정 등을 포함하고 있으며 특히 리더십 생활기술이 청소년기에 요구되는 발달과업 중 중요한 요소라는 전제하고 이 시기에 개발하는 것이 청소년들이 자신에 대한 이해를 높이며 자존감을 높이고 원만하고 진취적인 생활을 하게 함으로서 위험행동이 예방되고 성공적인 성인기로 나아갈 수 있으리라는 이론적 근거에서 출발한다.
또한 지적 능력을 강조하는 학교 생활과는 달리 다양한 체험을 제공하는 청소년 단체활동을 통해 이러한 리더십 생활기술을 개발할 수 있다는 전제 아래, 본 연구는 YWCA 소속 청소년을 대상으로 단체활동 경험과 리더십 생활기술과의 관계를 계량적으로 파악함으로서 앞으로 YWCA 청소년 활동에 있어서 리더십을 개발할 수 있는 가능성과 방안을 모색함을 목적으로 한다.
이러한 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 YWCA 소속 청소년 회원인 Y-틴 회원 297명으로부터 획득한 설문지를 분석하였다. 조사도구는 선행연구 및 관련문헌의 고찰을 통해 커뮤니케이션기술, 의사결정기술, 인간관계기술, 학습능력기술, 조직관리기술, 자기이해기술, 그룹 활동기술의 7가지 하위영역 30문항을 척도로 사용하였다.
독립변인으로는 첫째, YWCA 활동 변인으로 YWCA 활동 유형, YWCA 활동 참여도, YWCA 활동 열의도, YWCA 활동에 대한 기대도, 기타 리더십 프로그램에 대한 욕구의 5가지 영역의 변인을 사용하였다. 둘째, 인구학적 변인으로는 성별, 학력, 종교, 형제수, 성격, 교우관계의 7가지 변인을 사용하였다.
리더십 생활기술 척도의 내용타당도와 신뢰도는 선행연구 자료를 바탕으로 확보하였으며 이에 따르면 신뢰도는 Cronbach' α 계수가 0.79로 신뢰할만한 수준인 것으로 드러났다.
본 연구에서 밝혀진 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
첫째, 리더십 생활기술 수준의 분포는 최소값이 34점, 최대값이 138점으로 나왔으며 분표의 집중 경향성을 나타내는 지수인 평균은 102.10으로서 이론치보다는 높게 나타났다.
둘째, 리더십 생활기술 수준은 성적에 있어서는 상위권일수록, 성격은 외향적인 성격이, 교우관계는 원만한 경우가 리더십 생활기술 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다.
셋째, 임원 활동을 한 경우와 전국 행사 참여, 문화지기 활동 참여, 회의 활동 참여자가 리더십 기술 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 활동에 대한 열의도에 있어서는 이웃지기, 회의참여를 제외한 전국행사, 문화지기, 지역지기, 절기행사, 소속 동아리활동의 하위 요인에 대해서 열의도가 높을수록 리더십 생활기술 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다
이상에서 밝혀진 연구결과를 토대로 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다.
첫째, YWCA 청소년 회원들에게 성적, 성격, 교우관계, 임원경험과 YWCA 활동 중 전국행사와 회의 활동 참여경험, YWCA 행사에 열의를 가지고 참여하는 경우가 그들의 리더십 생활기술을 설명하고 예측할 수 있는 요인임을 실증되었다.
둘째, 선행연구에서 유의미한 차이를 보인 중요 변인인 성별, 학년, 활동 참여정도, 활동기간, 성취기대 변인은 본 연구에서는 유의미한 차이가 없거나 그 차이가 미미하게 나타났다.
셋째, YWCA 청소년 회원의 리더십 개발을 위한 방안으로 (1) 프로그램의 지기별 활동과 절기행사를 중심으로 하는 현재의 사업방향을 제고하여 회원들에게 YWCA 고유의 정체성을 전달하면서 리더십 생활기술을 개발할 수 있는 프로그램을 제공해야한다. (2) 전국적인 네크워크를 활용한 프로그램을 개발하고 보급해야 한다. (3) 회원들의 눈높이와 욕구를 반영하는 전문적이고 체계적인 리더십 프로그램을 개발하여 제공해야한다. (4) 앞으로 YWCA 내에서 수행된 청소년 프로그램에 대해 리더십 생활기술 향상에 관한 평가를 적용함으로서 본 척도를 한국적 상황에 맞게 수정보완해가면서 동시에 리더십 개발에 유익한 프로그램을 선별하고 내용을 개선해가도록 해나가야 하겠다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study starts on the assumption that 1) leadership life skills(the ability to use knowledge and skills, communication, health care, leadership ability, and the ability of making of decision etc.) is the one of the most important youth's growing-up work to be needed in adolescence. 2) To develope this leadership life skills in adolescence is helpful to prevent the dangerous behaviors of youth and to lead them to the successful adulthood. 3) This leadership life skills is more developed well in the area of youth organization activities which present various experiences than the schools which emphasize the ability of knowledge.
The object of this study is to seek the possibility of leadership development through the YWCA youth activities by means of surveying the relationship between the group activity experiences of YWCA youth and leadership life skills.
To achieve this object, I analyzed the paper of questions of the 297 YWCA youth members. There were seven categories(the ability of communication through the survey of the pre-studies and the related books, the skill of making decision, the skill of relationship, the skill of learning, the skill of organization, the skill of self-understang, the skill of group activity) and 30 questions in the survey. I used two kinds of independent variables for this study, one is the 5 YWCA activity variables(the style of activity, the level of the participation in YWCA activities, the enthusiasm for YWCA activities, the expectation of YWCA activities, and the enthusiasm for the other leadership program), and the other is the 7 demographic variables(gender, academic career, school record, religion, the number of brother or sister, personality, friendship).
I collected the internal validity and reliability of leadership life skills through the survey of the pre-studies and the related books, and as a result of that - Cronbach' coefficient alpha was 0.79 - the reliability was a good level.
The major findings of this study were as follows:
1. the distribution of leadership life skills is minimum 34 point, maximum 138 point, and the average is 102.10.
2. When it comes to leadership life skills, it is higher in upper grade record, external personality, good friendship in the demographic variables.
3. When it comes to leadership life skills, it is higher in the youth who did staff work, participated in the national events, cultural work, and conferences, had enthusiasm for activities.
Based on the above findings, the results of this study is as follows:
1. It is proved that the experiences of participation in YWCA activities and the level of enthusiasm is the one of the primary factors to explain the level of leadership life skills, and it is useful to distribute the activity program like this to the youth.
2. In this study several variables such as gender, a school year, the duration of activity etc. have no roles in the results. It is needed more studies in this area.
3. The suggestions to improve the leadership of YWCA youth members are as follows:
1) to provide programs to improve leadership life skills conveying the identity of YWCA
2) to provide programs to use the national network
3) to provide professional and systematic programs thinking of the level and needs of the youth
4) to apply leadership life skills to the YWCA's activity programs and to revise it going on.
