The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of Bowling on Bowling club members' leisure satisfaction, and to investigate interrelation between Bowling and sports commitment.
Data were gathered using both male and female members aged over 18 years old; living in Ulsan and in Busan. The individual question was based on both Beaed & Raghed(1980)s LSS(Leisure Satisfaction Scale) and Lee(1992)s research method. The questionnaire was divided into 6 aspects; psychological, educational, social, leisure, physical, and environmental satisfaction. And each aspect included 4 questions was availed
In case of Sports commitment scale, research method developed by Chung(1997) was utilized. To research the characteristic of each aspect and difference, the following research method were adopted; t-test, one-way ANOVA, LSD, and Stepwise. Survey results demonstrated as follows.
1. Leisure Satisfaction
1) Sex
From the survey, differences between males and females couldnt be found, but regarding aspects of educational, social, environmental satisfaction as well as biological one were statistically higher than male respondents'.
2) Group
In case of leisure satisfaction, the club participants showed higher degree of satisfaction in parts of psychological, educational, social, and environmental aspects rather than non-club participants.
3) Duration
With respect to the duration for the club joining, there were no particularly differences, but attendees joining the Bowling club over 3 through 5 years replied more positively.
4) Bowling average score
Participants whose average score was above 200 showed their high leisure satisfaction in parts of psychological, educational, social, environmental aspects.
2. Bowling Commitment
1) Sex
With reference to sex, male-bowlers were higher than females in terms with both behavioral and cognitive commitment.
2) Group
Comparing bowling club participants to non-participants, the former responded high cognitive and behavioral commitment.
3) Duration
Participants whose bowling experience is above 3 through 5 years showed their high behavioral commitment, and above 5 year- experience bowlers showed both cognitive and behavioral commitment in statistics.
4) Bowling average score
Participants whose average scores were above 200 points showed their high cognitive and behavioral commitment.
3. An influence of leisure satisfaction on bowling commitment
According to the survey, the psychological, physical, and social satisfaction influenced leisure commitment, rather than other factors. In case of behavioral commitment, psychological, physical, and environmental satisfaction was higher.
