Each year sixty or seventy thousand high school students are leaving their schools and the numbers are increasing every year. The aim of this study is to find what is the reason of dropping out of school that influences negatively in many sides of family, school, community, etc and to prepare the disposal way for it. The study problems are as follow.
First, what is the school lives of the latent dropouts in the rural Technical High School like?
Second, what is the reason why the latent dropouts leave school in the rural Technical High School students.
Third, what are the life styles and the expectations of the rural Technical High School students after dropping out of school.
The rates of dropouts between the Academic High School and the Technical High School are comparatively analyzed in the concept and the present condition of leaving school. The reason and the characteristic of leaving school are analyzed according to home, community, and school as environmental factors that are concerned with. The process and the motivation of leaving school are analyzed inquiring into the motivation types of leaving school and putting the statistical data of the Korea Education Development Center and the results of the precedent studies together.
For the subjects of this research, the returned students of the S Technical High School next to Chonju city, who has experienced leaving school and the latent dropouts in the same school are chosen.
As the method of this research, the culture-descriptive approach of a descriptive and participative observation and a deep interview is adopted and that is based on the various bibliographical studies.
The results of this research are as follows.
First, in the school lives of the rural Technical High School students many students have the poor manners about the basic living habits and have showed the enervation in everything.
Second, the reason of dropout among the rural Technical High School students is divided into individual side, school side, and community side, among which the unfitness of school life is the biggest reason.
Third, after dropping out of school the rural Technical High School students spend most of their days in entertaining without special things.
Fourth, the expectation of the rural Technical High School students after dropping out of school is that they want to take the continuous care and be understood as a youth itself.
The shock of the son and daughters' leaving school is treated together with parents and their children and the social supporting system will be operated actively from now on.
The conclusions according to these results are as follows.
This research has studied and observed what is their characteristics and desires of the youths of leaving schools, as the number of the youths of leaving schools is increasing for not fulfilling their future course desire.
So far, our education has taught the students with only one standard. It has forced our various students one frame or way and made them all have the similar thoughts, If one has a little different thinking, one leaves out in the cold and is criticized by the others, and the society like this is the cause of our society problems.
The disposal ways of dropping out of school among the rural Technical High School students are to run a counseling program for all the family in a home side, to make a close cooperation relation and a open mood to help the youths in community side, to Strengthen the counseling and to actualize the alternative schools.
