車凡錫의 <山불> 硏究 = (A) study on the <SanBul> of Cha Bum-Suk's Drama

<San Bul> examined in this research is the typical work of Cha Bum-Suk and it was evaluated as the best Korean realism dram' since Korean Liberation in 1945.
Cha Bum-Suk spent his young days in the whirl of Korean war (6.25) and developed his own spirit as writer and his historical experiences are reflected in his works well.
His typical work <San Bul> set tragic division of the nation after Korean war and the extreme situation of fratricidal war with the background of a village near the Mt. Wolchul and expresses people's life sacrificed by ideology by adding man's primitive sexual desire.
This study develops the following research on Cha Bum-Suk's <San Bul>
Cha Bum-Suk has the recognition that literature must be based on realism and the literature which ignores the historical and national reality has no meaning in this age.
He makes the realism the basis of his works with the concept that drame is the mirror lighting a society. That is, he has the wide concerns on society and reflects the changing social reality on his works from the critical position.
Therefore realism drama to which he refers aims at saving the man by explaining the man's inner conflict as well as social phenomenon with the historical consciousness.
For this, he expresses the prosecution of absurd human society and politics, collision of old and new generations, resultant fall of tradition, man's love and lost humanism and poor people's miserable life in native language.
This research examines and analyzes his work <San Bul> in its style and content.
In fact drama is a genre of literature and also key factor of play. Therefore since drama is based on literature and play and has two aspects of dramatic and literary properties, the integrity of the whole work is not understood by neglect either. So, the analysis based on the peculiarity of drama itself is needed. That is, this study examines the stream of realism drama, composition and background of work and characters' features.
Existing researches emphasize the peculiarity and necessity of drama and profound research of it is not active. Therefore this research analyzes works in concrete to analyze the characteristics of drama itself,
Finally, it assumes the status of drama history of <San Bul>. We cannot find the technique of drama writing next to <San Bul> in his other works. Especially, his culture critical dramas view the urban middle-class life with superficial, ideological and moral vision. In addition, they are very poor in the aspect of drama writing.
The fame of <San Bul> is based on the basic setting of drama, that is the peculiarity of dramatic situation that man red guerrilla invaded in widow village and two women share a man.
That <San Bul> is evaluated as the best of realism dram is because it devotes to embody man's reality with writer's technique in drama composition and characterization.
Such a fact is shown through the description of surrounding figures. The assertion that issue of ideology is resulted from history and the age rather than people's faults is interpreted easily as people's life sacrificed by war. Therefore it embodies superior native realism to other works.
Cha Bum-Suk describes the Koreans' mental wandering and the resultant destruction in the upheaval period of Korean war and national division as the national misfortune in real expression techqiue.
Accordingly, the ultimate purpose of anlayzing <san Bul> in this study is to examine the whole features of his other drama works and to give the basis for analyzing other works.
In addition, this study is performed to understand the substance of work which was not expected in other researches conducted as a part of drama history or theory of writers by analyzing a work in depth.
