내담자와 상담자의 종교에 따른 내담자의 상담에 대한 기대 분석 = Expectations of Clients for Counseling According to Counselor's and Client's Religious Orientation

국문 초록 (Abstract)

내담자들은 상담하기 전에 상담자의 역할, 자기 자신의 역할, 상담결과 및 과정에 대하여 자기나름대로 어떠한 기대를 안고 상담 장면에 임한다. 상담에 대한 내담자의 이와 같은 기대는 상담서비스를 받겠다는 결심 내지는 상담 지속여부 결정에 영향 미칠 수 있으며, 결과적으로 상담자와 내담자의 의사소통 과정과 상담의 효율성에 영향을 줄 수 있다.
본 연구는 유사연구로서 기독교인 피험자와 비기독교인 피험자가 상담자의 종교에 따라 상담에 대하여 갖는 기대 차이를 고찰하였다. 그리하여 잠재적 내담자 집단인 기독교인의 상담에 대한 기대를 비기독교인과 비교 분석하여 기독교인 내담자의 상담에 대한 기대를 알고, 기독교인에 대한 상담자의 이해를 돕는 한편, 종교 변인과 관련된 이 분야의 연구 부족을 메꾸고자 시도하였다.
피험자는 기독교인 여자대학생 40명과 비기독교인 여자대학생 40명이다. 이들 피험자 선정은 총 197명의 피험자들을 기독교인 상담자 조건과 비기독교인 상담자 조건에 무선 배정하여, 내담자 소개문, 상담자 소개문, 상담기대척도와 기독교종교성척도 순으로 된 설문지에 반응하게 한 후 기독교종교성 점수에 따라 각 40명씩 무선포집하였다.
결과 처리는 2(피험자 종교)x2(상담자 종교)의 이원요인 설계로 하여, 일차적으로 다원변량분석(MANOVA)한 결과 피험자 종교 주효과 의미있게 나타나 후속적으로 단일변량분석(ANOVA)하였다.
본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다.
1. 기독교인 피험자들의 상담에 대한 기대가 비기독교인 피험자들보다 더 높게 나타났다. 특히 상담자 행동 및 태도에 대한 기대 중 상담자가 수용적, 지시적 및 자기노출적이기를 더 기대하였으며, 상담자 특성에 대한 기대로는 상담자가 더 관용적이기를 기대하였다. 그리고 상담과정이 더 구체적이기를 기대하였다.
2. 피험자들의 상담자의 종교에 따른 기대에는 차이가 없었다.
3. 피험자의 종교와 상담자의 종교는 상호작용하지 않았다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Clients approach counseling with anticipations regarding what counseling will be like and the roles they and their counselors will be. It has been argued that the client's expactancies may either facilitate or hinder the comunication process and the effectiveness of counseling.
The purpose of this study is to investigate Christian and non-Christian subjects' expectations for counseling with a Christian or non-Christian counslor.
The total of 197 undergraduate female subjects identified the personal problem of a client and read a profile of either a professional counselor with no identified religious orientation in counseling or professional counselor identified as a Cristian counselor. They responsed the Expectation About Counseling(EAC) and The Sepherd Scale. Christian subjects (n=40) were selected by The Sepherd Scale and non-Christian subjects (n=40) were randomly selected. Subjects in both the Christian and non-Christian group were randomly assigned to one of two experimental counselor condition.
The results are as follows:
Significant differences between the scores of Christian and non-Christian subjects were observed on 5 of the scales on EAC; Directivenss, Acceptance, Self-disclose, Tolerance, Concreteness. In each instance, Christians scored higher than non-Christian.
The results of the present study showed that Christian beliefs of client are associated with more positive expectations, suggesting that such a beliefs may enhance the counseling process for that group.
