패션에 표현된 변형(變形)에 관한 연구 : 과장에 의한 표현방법을 중심으로 = (A) Study on Expressed Transformation in Fashion : Focused on the Exaggeration

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오랜 역사를 거쳐오는 동안 인간의 신체는 다양한 문화 속에서 아름다움이라는 컨셉 아래 다양한 형태와 방법으로 ‘변형’되어 왔다.
아름다움을 추구하는 인간의 미의식은 복식의 변화에 매우 중요한 변수가 되었고, 그 시대의 미의식을 표현하는데 있어 변형은 하나의 중요한 표현 수단으로 사용된다.
이에 본 논문에서는 아름다움을 향한 인간의 욕구 속에서 자연적인 인체 형태의 변형의 지속에 관한 논점을 제시하고, 동시에 이상적인 몸의 형태로의 전환을 가능케 해 온 패션이 아름다움을 향한 욕구를 만족시키는 수단이 되어왔음을 보여준다.
변형(變形, Transformation)이란 대상을 시각적 영상으로 충실히 재현하는 것이 아니라 작가의 주관에 따라 고의로 왜곡시키거나 과장하는 것으로 안정된 시각적 균형과 단조로운 형태의 질서를 깨뜨리는 것을 말하며 동적인 미적 효과를 이끌어내는 것이다.
변형의 표현 방법으로 분해, 단순화, 과장, 왜곡에 의한 변형이 있는데 본 연구에서는 확대라고 하는 표현방식을 포괄하고 있는 과장을 중심으로 연구하였으며 ‘과장에 의한 변형’의 범위를 다음과 같이 한정하였다.
과장(誇張, Exaggeration)으로서 변형은 대상의 일부분을 의도적으로 크게 확대하고 다른 부분은 짧게 줄이면서 상대적으로 다른 한쪽을 실제보다 크게 과장하여 표현 하는 방식이다.
본 연구에서는 패션에 있어 과장의 의미를 입체적으로 형태와 부피가 팽창되는 것으로 한정하고 과장의 광의 개념에 속할 수 있는 ‘축소’의 의미는 제외하였다. 따라서 공간적으로 돌출 되고 길이가 연장된 양적 의미를 일컫는 말이 된다. 곧 과장에 의한 변형은 실루엣에 의해 창조되는 외부적인 형으로서 선과 실루엣이 실제의 인체보다 눈에 띄게 확대되거나 지나치게 과장된 패션, 혹은 확대되어진 곳이 강조됨에 따라 시선을 멈추게 하며 이로 인하여 인체의 자율성을 억압하는 구조물로서의 의상에 범위를 정하였다.
인체의 부분들 목, 어깨, 가슴, 허리, 엉덩이 등에 부분적으로 과장한 변형의 예를 현대패션을 중심으로 분석하고, 과거 서양복식의 사례를 들면서 비교 연구 하였으며, 이를 토대로 하여 패션에 표현된 변형의 특성을 다음과 같이 정리하였다.
첫째, 조형적인 면을 살펴보면, 부분적 확대는 일정한 부위의 강조로 인해 그 방향에 시선이 집중되어 나타나는 조형성을 가진다.
일면 실용적인 면을 무시하고, 그 자체를 미적으로 재해석하려는 양상을 보이고 있으며, 이는 의상에 모양을 바꾸려는 디자이너의 조형의지나 예술정신, 상상력에서 비롯된다. 그리고 변형된 의상이 주는 시각적 흥미로부터 그 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
둘째, 심리적인 면을 살펴보면, 패션 디자이너에게 있어 인체부분에 대한 관심이 어떠한 방법으로 무엇으로 표현되었나 하는 것은 바로 심미적인 목적을 어디다 두었나 하는 시대적인 미의식과 개인의 미적 취향이 반영된다. 요컨대 아름다워지고자 하는 미적 욕구, 자기과시나 성적 매력의 강조, 이미지의 변형 등 인간의 끊임없는 욕구는 옷을 통하여 표현되어 진다.
위에서 검토한 바, 표현방법에 있어서 과장을 통한 변형의 가치는 인체의 강조부위를 부풀려 기괴한 실루엣으로 재현함으로써 조형적이고 구조적인 특징을 부각시킨 새로운 형태를 창출하는데 있다 하겠다. 곧 현대적 의미에서의 변형된 디자인은 인체의 이미지를 살린 조형작업의 결과물로 인식되는 것이다.
그러나 너무 조형적인 면에 치우침으로 해서 자율성을 억압하게 되고, 의복이 갗추어야 할 기본적인 기능성과 효율성에 대해 무시되면서 무형식적, 탈구조 등의 극단적이고 자극적인 것에 집중하고 있음을 보였다.
이에 본 연구자는 이러한 점을 보완하는 디자인을 제시함으로써 변형의 표현에 대한 새로운 시도를 하였다.
제시한 디자인은 테일러드 자켓 패턴의 원형을 이용하여 기본구성에 충실하면서 용도변경으로의 효율성과 착용가능성을 동시적으로 표현하는데 초점을 두었다.
부분적 과장에 따른 신체연장으로부터의 수직ㆍ수평확대로서 비율파괴에 의한 조형성을 표현하였고, 더욱 길어 보이고 넓게 보이려는 과장된 인간심리를 반영한 디자인을 보여준다.
현대에는 라이프 스타일의 일상화로 의복의 캐주얼화는 물론이고 옷을 통한 자기표현이 강하게 지속 될 것이라고 볼 때, 본 연구는 패션디자인의 나아갈 바를 가늠하는데 많은 도움이 될 것이며, 한 단계 발전된 패턴을 이해하고, 또한 디자인 개발에 있어 창조적 발상 영역을 넓히는데 풍부한 영감을 줄 것이라 기대된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

While passing long history, human's body has transformed by various forms and methods under a concept called beauty in various culture.
The aesthetic sense of the man who pursues beauty became a variable very important for a transformation. And transformation is used with one important expression means for shown in expressing the aesthetic sense of the time.
In this study, desire of the human who want beauty shows having made continuous transformation of a natural human body form was brought. And the fashion which can be made to perform transformation to the ideal form of a human body became a means that having filled desire of the human who want beauty.
Transformation is made to object intentionally distorts or exaggerates by a writer's subjectivity rather than reproducing visually the object. And it is order of the stable visual balance and a monotonous form is broken.
How to express transformation has decomposition, simplification, exaggeration and distortion. In the study seen in it, it inquired focusing on the way of expressing with called that exaggeration containing an expression system called expansion. And limited extent of "Transformation by exaggeration" as following. It is expression way that exaggeration extends greatly target's one part intentionally and do so that intended part may be exaggerated more greatly than actuality relatively as that curtail other part. In this study, limited exaggeration's meaning in fashion that form and bulk expand in solid, and abridgment that can talk that is concept of exaggeration's storehouse excepted. Therefore, it becomes speech which call quantitative meaning that is projected spatially and length is extended.
In these way, did comparative analysis about example of transformation that exaggerate parts of human body ; neck, shoulder, chest, waist, hip ; partially with this laying stress on modern fashion and example of past West dress and its ornaments. Arranged characteristic of expressed transformation as following in fashion on the basis of this.
First, In formality side, partial extension has formative Feature is caused that originate to be focused for direction by emphasis of fixed region. And There is aspect that ignore practical cotton and show aspect to reinterpret itself esthetically.
This is started in designer's will or art mind, imagination to change shape of clothes and sense of this in visual interest which reformed clothes give.
Second, In psychological side, That make to do Interest for human body is expressed in some transformation by designer is esthetic value of age and individual's esthetic value. Continuous desire of human ; Wanted to beautify esthetic desire, Exhibitionism, Emphasis of sexual attraction and Transformation of image ; is expressed through dress.
Thus, value of transformation through department manager in expression method is that have invented new form that do emphasis region of human body to emboss figurative and structural characteristic as that reappear mysterious silhouette to swell. But, oppress autonomy and showed that ignore basic function and effectiveness that clothes must equip cused by lean on so formality side, and showed that is converging to excessive and sensationaly thing of formlessness, deconstruction etc.
In this study hereupon, wished to solve problems that refer as that present design that focus efficiency and practicality of usage alteration as is full in basis composition using archetype of tailored jacket pattern,
Expressed formality by ratio breakdown as vertical, horizontal extension from body tool by partial extension. And wish to show design that human's mind which want to be more longer and larger is reflected.
At present age, when see that clothes become casual and self-expression through clothes may be continued strongly, this study may become help to aim direction that must go forward of designer, and Understand step developed pattern, and give rich inspiration to widen creative conception in design development.
