      The purpose of this study is to examine the self-esteem level and the maladjustment action level of industrial high school students in school life and to find the relationship between them. The subjects of this study were 400 male and female industrial high school students in Chunbuk province.
      The research data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed by t-test and F-test, post hoc-test(scheffe) through the SPSS program.
      The results were as followings.
      First, examining the self -esteem according to underground characteristics of industrial high school students, the results showed that self-esteem level has the meaningful difference at p<.05 according to the gender and the grade. It was found that Female students of I,H,S (industrial high school) has the lower self-esteem level than male ones. But there was no meaningful difference according to the grade after scheffe. The difference of the self-esteem level according to the department was meaningful difference at p<.05. It was found that technical students' self-esteem level was higher than agricultural ones. There was no meaningful difference according to the religion and parents.
      Second, Examining maladjustment action level of industrial high school students in school life according to the underground characteristics, it was found that there was no statistically meaningful difference in the total field, but in the teacher relation, it was found that there was meaningful difference at p<.05. And there was no meaningful difference between the male and female students of I,H,S in company, study, school regulation. And there was no significant difference in the residence. In the learning action, there was meaningful difference at p<.05. In learning action, the students living in country had higher perception for maladjustment action than the students living in Chonju city. In the part of the religion and parents there was no statistically significant difference totally. In the school regulation observance, there was meaningful difference P<.05. After scheffe, it was found that the students with father had the higher maladjustment action than the students with parents. It is considered that the students with father were emotionally more unstable living attitude than the students with parents and that was the reason they have shown the heavy maladjustment action in their school life.
      Finally, examining the relationship between the self -esteem and the maladjustment action of I.H.S.S(industrial high school students), according to the self-esteem level divided three groups, high, middle, and low, it was founded that there was totally significant difference at p<.05 and the low groups the higher maladjustment action than the middle groups. Therefore, it was found that in the industrial high school students, the lower their self-esteem was, the higher their maladjustment action was.
      As a result of this study, it was founded that there were significant differences according to the subordinate factors for . Therefore, this researcher think that understanding the relationship between the self -esteem and maladjustment action of industrial high school students in school life, teachers and parents need to have interest in improving their self-esteem so that they can adjust themselves to their school life.
