초등학생이 지각한 부모-자녀간 의사 소통과 자아 존중감 및 학업 성적과의 관계 = (A) Study on the Relationship among the Communication Standard between Parents and Children Perceived by Elementary School Students, Self Esteem and Scholastic Achievement

The purpose of this thesis was to consider what relationship the communication standard between parents and children perceived by elementary school students has with their self esteem level and scholastic achivement.
The concrete subject of the research is the following.
The first, Is there any relationship between communication standard with father perceived by elementary school students and their self esteem?
The second, Is there any relationship between communication standard with mother perceived by elementary school students and their self esteem?
The third, Is there any relationship between communication standard with father perceived by elementary school students and their scholastic achivement?
The fourth, Is there any relationship between communication standard with mother perceived by elementary school students and their scholastic achivement?
The fifth, Is there any relationship between their esteem and scholastic achivement?
In order to investgate the above subjects, 249 elementary school students in Gunsan si were chosen.
To cunduct this study a sample of 249 students were given three types of questionnaires. The questionnaires employed were Parent-Adolescent Communication Inventory(PACI), Self Esteem Inventory(SE1) and Middle Scholastic Achivement Score of the First Semester.
Pearson Correlation was used to investigate research results.
Major findings are as follows:
The first, Positive correlation was revealed between communication standard with father perceived by elementary school students and their self esteem.
The second, Positive correlation was revealed between communication standard with mother perceived by elementary school students and their self esteem
The third, Positive correlation was revealed between communication standard with father perceived by elementary school students and their scholastic achivement. It was a little lower than those of mother's.
The fourth, Positive correlation was revealed between their self esteem and scholastic achivement.
This study implies that the open hearted communication between parents and children is of great importance. Since the communication standard between parents and children is a crucial factdr influencing the children's self esteem and scholastic achivement, more in-depth study needs to be done.
