도덕 교육을 위한 종교적 수행 방법의 함의 = (The) Implications of Methods of Religious Practies for Moral Education

The purpose of this thesis is to utilize religious exercise to increase the effectiveness of moral education. Moral education is not only about cramming moral code and solemn admonition. Ethics education is not only about giving students abstract theories. Same with other kinds of educations, for the moral education to be successful, good teachers and multimedia materials should be available. Among those materials good texts and various methods that can effectively utilize them are vital.
On such point, various religious practices provide important perspective into moral code which the moral education tries to do effectively. Essence of religion causes men to repent and criticize themselves which in turn allows them to carry on with true life. On personal level, religion contributes to restoration of humanity while dissoluting internal conflicts that grow along with human growth. On social level it unites people and upholds social order while providing legitimacy and purpose to existing government body. Such faculties of religion coincides in part with what moral education aims to do, because religion not only teaches these values but also effectively utilize and internalize them in real life.
The purpose of Christianity is to live in unity with God through Christ within Holy Spirit. By glorifying God and following Christ, it aims to serve and love others. To realize them, Christians meditate, pray, fast, study gospel, simplify life, isolate, obey, serve, worship, guide, confess, and praise along with other methods. Buddhism aims to find true self and character through enlightenment and words of Buddha which in turn will eliminate pain and suffering to live a peaceful and complete life. To realize such goal Buddhists meditate, pray to Buddha, practice austere life, and study mind. I believe such religious practices provide solutions to various moral issues in modern society and have positive effect on moral education in methodological perspective.
Thus it is necessary for the moral educators to take close look at various religious practices. Educators should search and participate in religious practices to find teaching methods. Also they should find ways to utilize such methods in teaching environment. With open mind and cooperation to overcome the crisis that the moral education is in, educators should find better approaches and endeavor to accept them. Current education system's competitive, intelligence and academic cliquish environment must be improved. Also, social composition that respects people with true moral value should follow as well.
