The purpose of this study was to examine Carl Orff's music program music affects the prosocial behavior and self-concept amongst 6 and 7 year old preschool children. The subject of study, 50 children who attend a kindergarten located at Hadae-dong, Jinju city, were randomly divided into two groups. The experiment group(25 children) took 15 sessions(40 minuets per session) program for 3weeks and control group(25 children) took general program for same time.
All 50 children were tested on the pretest and protest of prosocial scale and self-concept scale. The differences of two groups were analyzed with the undependent t-test using SPSS 10 statistic program package.
The first result comparing the prosocial and self-concept scores before and after this music program was shown a significant difference between the two groups(p<.05). The group who carried out music program showed a significant improvement in their prosocial and self-concept compared to those who did not.
The second result shows that the experiment group who participated in the music program presented a significant difference compared to the control group in personal emotion, personal madiating relations and adaption in school(p<.05).
The third result shows that the 7 year group who participated in the music program presented a significant difference compared to the 6 year group prosocial behavior and self-concept(p<.05).
The forth result shows that the male group who participated in the music program presented a significant difference compared to the female group(p<.05).
