The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of group counseling
program for self-expression based on reality therapy on the self-expression behavior
and the Interpersonal relationships of elementary school children.
In order to accomplish the above purpose, the hypotheses based on the theoretical
background were set up as follows.
(1) Experimental group received group counseling program for self-expression
based on reality therapy would be significant improvement in the self-expression
behavior than control group.
(2) Experimental group received group counseling program for self-expression based on reality therapy would be significant improvement in the interpersonal
relationships than contTol group.
(3) The grouf counseling pl()gram foF self-expression based on reality therapy
would be continuous improvement in the self-expression behavior and the
interpersonal relationshiDs of elementar? school children.
Thirty seven childrEn farticipated in this study, who were all In the fourth grade

To test the research hypotheses, it was administered two tests, self-expression
behavior scale and interpersonal relationships scale before and after the experiment.
A experimental design of this study was pretest-posttest control group design.'rho
experimental treatment was group counseling program for self-erpression based on
Teality therapy during five weeks. hfeans and standard deviations obtained from two
scales were analyzed with t-test using SPSSWIN 1.0 version
The main results of this study were as follows.
(1) Experimental group received group counseling program for self-expression
based on reality therap)'was more improved the self-exfression behavior than
control group.
(2) Experimental group received group counseling program for self-expression
based on reality therapy was more Improved the interpersonal relationships than
control group.
(3) The group counseling program for self-expression based on reality therapy had
continuous effects improvement in the self-expression behavior and the interpersonal
relationships of elementar? school children.
In sum, these results prove that group counseling program for self-expression
based on reality therap)'impTove the self-expression behavior and the interpersonal
