상상력 향상을 위한 교수·학습방법 모색

국문 초록 (Abstract)

오늘날 우리 사회는 하루가 다르게 급속도로 변화되고 있다. 이런 사회에서 인간 존재의 의미를 새롭게 하고 가장 인간다운 모습을 찾아가는 것이야말로 우리시대에 가장 중요한 일일 것이다. 이런 시대에 요구되는 교육은 종래의 교육이 행해왔던 지식 위주, 암기 위주의 교수 · 학습 방법에서 벗어나 학습자 개개인의 개성과 창의력을 최대한 발휘할 수 있는 학습자 주도적인 교육으로의 전환이다. 학교 교육의 변화를 추구하는 이러한 움직임은 학교가 학생들에게 새로운 사고를 가지고 끊임없이 도전하며 주변상황을 잘 파악하여 문제를 제기하고 보다나은 가치관을 가지고 문제를 해결하는 창의적인 인간 육성에 있는 것이다. 창의력은 새로운 길을 찾는 노력이라고 할 수 있는데 그 창의력의 가장 핵심적인 요소가 바로 상상력이라고 할 수 있다.
상상력 발달이 교육에 중요하다는 사실에는 대부분이 동의하고 있지만 실제의 교육 현장은 상상력 계발에 많은 노력을 기울이지 않고 있다. 여기에는 여러 가지 이유가 있으나 그 중 하나는 상상력이 아주 복잡하고 다차원적인 특성을 가지고 있기 때문에 어떻게 지도하면 상상력을 향상시킬 수 있을까? 하는 교수 ·학습방법을 구체적으로 제시해 주고 있지 않기 때문이다. 따라서 상상력 발달이 가장 활발한 시기인 아동기를 통해 지도되어야함을 인식하고 교육현장에서 어떻게 지도되어야 할 것인가를 생각해 보았다.
본 연구에서는 미술교육에 있어서 상상력의 중요성, 상상력 향상을 위하여 상상력과 미술교육과의 관계, 아동기의 상상력과 발달요인, 상상력 향상을 위한 교육방법과 교사의 역할을 살펴보고 놀이와 이야기를 통한 두 가지 측면에서 미술과 표현영역 지도를 위한 교수 · 학습 방법을 모색해 보고자 하였다.
아동들은 수없이 많은 상상력을 가지고 있다. 이런 상상력이 미술교육에 있어서 적극적으로 표현된다면 교육의 궁극적 목표인 전인적인 인간 형성에도 많은 도움을 줄 것이다 수업은 일정한 학습 목표를 세우고 그 목표를 달성하기 위하여 일정한 과정을 거치는 것이라 생각해 왔던 고정된 관념을 버려야 한다. 수업구조를 조금만 융통성 있게 변화시키고 교사로서 바람직한 역할을 수행한다면 학습자들의 상상력 표현은 우리교사들이 생각하는 이상의 것을 기대할 수 있을 것이며 상상력을 향상시키는데 큰 영향력을 미칠 것이다 놀이나 이야기를 통한 수업과 현장체험학습, 경험중심학습 등은 능동적인 적응력을 필요로 하는 변화무쌍하고 다양한 미래사회에 적절하게 대처할 수 있는 수업형태임에는 분명하다 그러나 실제로 학습현장에서는 여러 교과가 하루에 편성되어 있어 시간적, 공간적으로 체험활동을 하기 어려운 실정이므로 현장체험학습 및 경험중심학습을 적용할 수 있는 시간 확보가 시급한 실정이다.
아동의 상상력 향상을 위해 시간적, 공간적으로 현장체험학습 및 경험 중심활동의 교수 · 학습 방법이 확보되어 본 연구자의 수업모델을 적용한 수업이 지속적으로 이루어진다면 아동의 상상력 향상에는 물론 전인적 인격 형성에도 영향을 줄 수 있을 것이다 그리고 향후 미래의 주인공 될 아동들에게 상상력 향상을 위한 꾸준한 노력은 앞으로도 계속되어야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Studies suggest that role play and storytelling-based learning and teaching methods are very effective to the development of children's imagination. However, it is somewhat difficult to find some of practical studies to applicate theoretical studies into the classes. Because of this phenonenon, there has been a wide gape between theory and practice. Therefore the purpose of this study is to find a practical learning and teaching method for the development of children's imagination through play and storytelling-based upon learning activity.
First of all, the researcher proposed a learning and teaching model based upon role play activity for the development of student's imaginative ability. For the process of activity. students are supposed to imagine their experiences related to the learning subject in order to express them in role play. After a role play is done students are told to plan another role play based upon the first one changing their role, or adding something else. This process is required several times during the class time to give students more opportunities to think further.
A teaming and teaching model based upon storytelling could provide a bunch of sources for imagination. Students will start to think based on information from the story using their experiences until they have a clear picture in their mind about what to express in art. Children have an ability to imagine endlessly. Therefore, if we could help them to develop this ability through art education, a major goal of art education called a well-rounded person, To do this, we have to get over a traditional concept of following a rigid and fixed learning and teaching process. In other word, a flexibility is required for teachers to provide students better environment which is one of most important elements for the development of imaginative thinking. It is not difficulty to see that children's thinking way is different from that of adult because of their thinking way have not been fixed by the rational drills and concepts. A learning and teaching activity such as role play and storytelling based learning, field trip, and experience-centered learning might have been one of the proper and effective learning and teaching methods. Throughout the development of Korean school art education, there has been progress in many aspects even though school environments are ongoing obstacles to practical and proper learning and teaching to be occurred. Especially, art education for the development of creativity is one of the strongest agenda. This study has done for this purpose. If we, school teachers, keep trying to achieve the goal of art education, the future of Korean art education well be bright.
