가족생활 주기론을 활용한 가족문제 진단연구 = (A) Diagnostic Study for Family Problems by Utilizing the Theory of Family Life Cycle

국문 초록 (Abstract)

1950년대 이후, 개인이나 환경을 분리해서 치료하던 종래의 방법과는 달리 가족체계에 초점을 두고, 가족내의 상호작용에 관심을 두는 가족치료가 대두되었다. 가족내의 상호작용은 가족의 주기적 발달단계에 따라 그 형태와 내용이 달라지기 때문에 가족내 상호작용을 이해하기 위해서 가족생활주기를 고려하지 않을 수 없다.
그래서 본 논문은 가족치료에 있어 가족생활주기가 가족을 더 잘 이해하고, 치료방향을 계획하고 개입하는데 유용한 준거틀(framework)이 될 수 있음을 제시하려는데 그 목적을 두었다. 이 목적을 위해 1장에서는 가족생활주기의 개념들을 보았고, 2장에서는 가족생활주기의 선행연구들을 고찰, 그들의 한계점을 보고 이를 극복할 수 있다고 여겨지는 Carter와 McGoldrick의 가족생활 주기는 제3세대의 정서적 관점에서 접근하였다. 가족은 현재와 과거 모두에 반응하는 특성을 가졌고 세대간 정서적 고리로 연결되어 있다는 것이다. 그래서 가족생활주기의 변천(Transition)에 따르는 위기뿐 아니라 세대간 전해오는 것들을 중요하게 고려하고 있었다. 4장에서는 Carter와 McGoldrick의 가족생활주기의 6단계와 수평, 수직 스트레스에 초점을 두고 진단 틀을 유추하였고 5장은 치료적인 틀에 5case의 사례를 적용하고 치료목표 계획 등을 수립하였다.
그 결과 가족과 치료자에게 다음과 같은 점이 유익했다고 본다.
1. 가족들에게
○ 자녀들에게 부모의 삶을 알게 하고 이해하게 하여 갈등관계를 해소케 했으며
○ 부부에게 과거회상을 통해 서로 좋았던 시기, 문제해결 방법의 유형들을 추적하여 알 수 있게 했고, 앞으로 남은 발달단계에서 어떤 위기가 오며 어떻게 대처할 것인가를 예견케 했다.
2.치료자에게
○ 치료계획 수립이 용이했고, 개입의 방향을 잘 알 수 있게 하였다.
○ Carter와 McGoldrick의 수직, 수평 스트레스 요인을 찾는 과정이 단순한 자료 수집의 수준을 넘어 치료적인 면을 보였다.
그러나, 비록 이 모델이 한국상황에 적합하다고 하나 미국의 가족을 전제로 했기 때문에 한계점을 가지므로 우리나라에 맞는 가족치료의 진단을 위해 가족생활주기의 연구가 있어야 하리라 본다. 이러한 점은 계속 치료적 상황에 적용, 연구가 반복된다면 가족치료에 있어 치료자에게 개입방향을 명확하게 제시하리라 여겨진다. 그래서 어떤 유형의 가족치료를 하든지 가족치료에서 가족을 더 잘 이해하고, 한 단위로서 가족을 다룰려면 가족생활주기를 준거틀로 하여 치료에 활용해다 한다는 것을 제언했다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

There has been many family therapist to treat a individual or his environment separately. After 1950, it was emerged a new theory of family therapy which was interested in the interaction among members of family. As interacting types and contents are veried according to stages of the development of family life, We cannot but considering the family life cycle in family therapy field.
Therefore, the object of this thesis is to show that in family therapy the family life cycle is a useful framework to understand family itself, to plan a therapeutic aim and to intervent in family. To achieve this object, in Ch.1 consider the concepts of family life cycle. In Ch.2, review the history of previous studies for the family life cycle, the limits of their and Carter & McGoldrick's family life cycle model which is seemed to overcome those limits.
While other family therapy models being already in existance has approached to the family on the assumpton that family is nuclear family, Carter & McGoldrick's model interpretes it in view of the emotion of three genreations. Family has a charcteristic responding to the present and the past, and link each other with emotional chanin existing among generations. In Ch.4, focus 6 steps of family life cycle and a vertical and a holizental stresses, and analogize a therapuetic framework. In Ch.5, total 5 cases are applied to a therapuetic framework, and the therapuetic aim and plan, etc. are set up.
Consequently, there are many useful aspects to family and therapist;
1) for family
O enables children to know the parent's life, and to understand it. The conflict relationship whihin family, therefore, is wiped up.
O enables man and wife to reflect on the past days, to perceive the time their having love each other, and to apprehend the methods to solve the problems. Hense, they can discern what crisis to come from the next developmental stage of family life cycle and how to treat them.
2) for therapist
O enables therapist to set up a therapuetic plan easily and to make clear the aim of intervention.
O the progress to search a vertical and a holizental stress factors is seemed to have a therapuetic aspect beyond the simple level of collectiing data.
Yet, because family life cycle model of Carter & McGoldrick's is not a therapuetic model, it is very difficult to analogize the method of the therapuetic approach from the model. If this point is applied repeatedly at the medical condition, therapist may have the precise aim for the intervention in family therapy.
