Anger is one of the frequent emotions which are experienced in our daily lives. It is a very normal emotion. However, anger can affect our mental health and human relationship in negative ways depending it's expression modes. Therefore, the issue on anger is very important.
This study aims at investigation of how high school students' anger mode influences on mental health and human relationship based on the assumption that mental health is dependent on depression and human relationship is dependent on aggression.
The differences according to the levels of depression and aggression between two groups of anger levels and among three groups of anger expression modes were investigated.
Anger Test based on Ko, Young-In(1994), Depression Test based on BDI, Aggression Test based on BDHI were administered to 377(188 males and 189 females) high school student who completed the above instruments. These subjects were divided into three groups by the levels of State Anger measures, Trait Anger measures and Three Anger Expression measures respectively.
The results of the above analyses can be summarized the following;
1. Respondents of the higher Anger level showed the higher levels of depression and aggression.
2. In depression, Assertive-Self Expression and Anger Out level showed significant result and In aggression, Anger Out level showed the same.
3. Depression level of the subjects with a high level of Anger Out measures was higher than that of subjects with a low level of Anger Out measures using Trait Anger as covariate.
4. Depression level of the subjects with a high level of Assertive-Self Expression measures was lower than that of the subjects with a low level of Assertive-Self Expression measures using Trait Anger as covariate.
5. There was no significant difference between depression and aggression level of the subjects with a high level of Anger In measures and those of the subjects with a low level of Anger In measures using Trait Anger as covariate.
This study indicates that Anger In Mode and Anger Out Mode in anger expression are apt to affect psychological health and human relationship in negative ways. We can overcome the negative effects of Anger by using Assertive-Self Expression Mode when anger is experienced.
