開化期의 詩歌 硏究 : 「독립신문」시가와 「대한매일신보」시가를 중심으로 = A Study on the Poetry in the Enlightened period:Centering around the Poetry of 「Dokrip-shinmun」and 「Daehanmaeil-shinbo」

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본고에서는 시대적 배경에 따른 개화사상과 개화기 가사의 전개과정을 통하여 개화기 시가의 문학적 의의를 고찰해 보았다. 개화기 시가는 한국 근대시의 출발을 의미하며, 전통사상과 외래사상의 심한 갈등적 상황을 형상화하고 있다. 이 과도기적 전환기의 시대상황을 배경으로 한, 개화기시가의 특징은 <독립신문> 가사와 <대한매일신보> 의 가사에 잘 드러나 있다.
<독립신문> 의 가사의 특징은 다음과 같다 첫째, 보수파에 대한 계몽과 저항의 노래이다. 둘째, 자주독립과 애국사상이 담겨있다는 점이다. 오랫동안 예속되어 있던 대륙의 지배에서 벗어나 자주독립을 성취한 기쁨을 노래하고 있다 셋째, 일심단결과 신교육의 필요성을 강조하고 있다. 외세침략을 막기 위하여 국민의 합심단결을 통해 국력을 배양해야한다고 주장하고 있다. 또한 서구의 선진문명을 받아들이기 위해 근대적인 신교육을 받아야한다는 것이다. 이처럼 <독립신문> 의 가사는 문명개화,자유민권사상,평등사상,민주주의 사상 등 근대를 지향하고 있다. 하지만 근대지향에만 급급한 나머지 민족이라는 지표에 대해서는 소홀한 점이 있다. 이는 서구문명의 위력에 현혹되어 민족이라는 뚜렷한 좌표의 인식이 부족했기 때문이라 생각된다.
<대한매일신보> 의 가사는 우국정신과 저항의식과 관련하여 다음과 같은 사회적 반응양상과 특징을 드러내고 있다. 첫째, 열강들의 흉계의 국민의 각성을 촉구하고 있다. 둘째, 친일매국노와 친일매국단체에 대해 비판하고 있다 셋째, 매관매직을 일삼는 탐관오리와 무능한 관리들을 지탄하고 있다. 또한 <사회등가사> 는 선진 외국의 문화를 섭취하는 것이 조국의 발전과근대적인 미래를 지향해야 한다는 개화파의 견해를 나타내고 있다 그러나 개화나 개혁이 우리 주체성을 말살하고 일제에 나라를 넘겨주는 구실로 이용되고 있는 것에 대해서는 비판하였다. <사회등가사> 들은 대부분 개화를 주장하되 전통을 부정하지 않으며, 민족적 신뢰감을 저버리지 않은 것이 특징이다. 이처럼 개화기시가는 격동의 시대에 민중들의 자발적으로 참여한 일제에 대한 저항의 소리이었다 본고에서는 개화기 시가의 자료들을 통해 그 속에 투영된 시대정신과 저항성을 밝히고자 하였다 이를 통해 한국시가문학사의 흐름 속에서 전통시가와 현대시의 연관성을 체계화하고자 하였다. 이렇게 함으로써 시가문학사의 영역을 확대하여 개화기시가의 정당한 시사적 위치를 부여하고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

I studied the literary meaning of Poetry from the enlightened period through the process of development of the civilization idea and lyrics of the enlightened period of the times with the background in this study. The Poetry of the enlightened period meant the start of Korean Modern Poetry, and formed conflicting situations between traditional ideas and foreign ideas.
The characteristics of the poetry in the enlightened period with the situation of the times in a transition period as its setting appear well in the lyrics of 「Dokrip-shinmun」 and 「Daehanmaeil-shinbo」.
The characteristics of the lyrics of 「Dokripshinrnun」 are as follows :
First, they are songs of illumination and resistant against conservatism. Second, they contain independence and patriotic ideas. They sing of the joy of independence after they freed themselves from long restraint of China. Third, they emphasize the union and the need of new education. For holding off foreign invasion, they insisted on building up national power by uniting the nation as one. Also they insisted that the who lenation be taught modern new civilized education to adapt to Western civilization. Like these, the lyrics of 「Dokrip-shinmun」 aim modern thought such as civilized enlightenment, liberal civic rights ideas, ideas of equality and democratic ideas. But as a result of striving after modern intention, they tend to neglect a nation as a guide post. 1 think that they were not aware of their nation as clear coordinates enough since they were dazz1ed by the power of Western civilization.
The lyrics of 「Daehanmaeil-shinbo」 assume the following reaction aspects and characteristics in connection with patriotic and spirit sense of resistance. First, they show a wicked scheme of the world powers and urge awakening of the people. Second, they criticize pro-Japanese traitors and pro-Japanese traitors' groups. Third, they blame corrupt officials who traffic in government posts as well as incapable officials.
「Snhoedeunggasa」 represents the opinions of the enlightened school who insist that they should accept the culture of the developing foreign countries for Korea's development and future. But they criticize that enlightenment and reformation erase our identity and are taken advantage of as an excuse of passing on Korea to Japan. The characteristics of 「sahoedeunggasa」 are that they insisted on enlightenment but they didn't deny tradition, and they didn't betray national beliefs. Like this, the Poetry of the enlightened period showed resistant voices that the people participated voluntary in the age of convulsions against Japanese imperialism. Through the materials of the poetry of the enlightened period, 1 intend to make the spirit of those times and resistances on them clear in this study.
Through this, 1 intended to systematize the connection of traditional poetry and modern poetry in the current of the history of Korean Poetic literature. By doing this, 1 intended to expand the territory of the history of poetic literature and then to give it the just suggestive position of the Poetry of the enlightened period.
