工業系 高等學校 學生들의 進路選擇과 職業意識에 關한 硏究 = A Study on Technical High School Students' Career Choice and Attitude Toward Occupation

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 공업계 고등학교 학생들의 진로 선택 경향, 학교 교육에 대한 인식, 직업에 대한 인식, 장래 진로에 대한 인지정도에 관한 실태를 조사 분석하여, 공업계 고등학교 학생들의 진로 선택 과정 및 진로 의식에 대한 객관적 정보를 수집하고 전라북도 공업교육 정책의 수립에 필요한 기초자료를 제시하고자 하였다. 이와 같은 연구 목적을 달성하기 위하여 다음과 같이 연구 문제를 설정하였다.
1. 공업계 고등학교 학생들의 진로 선택 경향은 어떠한가?
2. 공업계 고둥학교 학생들의 학교교육에 대한 인식은 어떠한가?
3. 공업계 고등학교 학생들의 직업에 대한 인식은 어떠한가?
4. 공업계 고등학교 학생들의 장래 진로에 대한 인지정도는 어떠한가?
위의 연구 문제를 밝히기 위해 본 연구에서는 최은아(1997), 김정훈(1997), 이성환(1999) 등의 설문 문항을 기초로 하여 4개 영역 24문항을 수정 보완하여 설문 조사를 실시하였다.
표집 대상으로는 전라북도 내에 소재하는 8개 공립고등학교에 재학중인 3학년 남 · 여학생 530명을 대상으로 각 학교를 직접 방문하여 표집했으며, 불성실하게 응답한 7명을 제외한 523명이 연구의 대상이었다. 자료 처리에 사용된 프로그램은 SPSS PC 10.0 이었으며 주된 통계적 방법은 빈도분석 이었다.
이상의 과정을 통하여 얻어진 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다.
첫째, 공업계 고등학교로 진로를 결정하게 된 동기는 인문계 학교로 진학할 성적이 안 되기 때문이며, 지원할 학교에 대해 어느 정도 알고 지원했으나 원서를 작성할 때에야 진로를 결정하는 경향을 보여 사전에 진로 자료 및 정보제공이 요망된다.
둘째, 공업계 고등학교로 진로를 선택할 때 선생님의 영향이 크며 재학중인 학교에 대한 자긍심을 갖고 후배에게 권장할 생각을 가지고 있으나 진학문제 및 취업문제로 고민하고 있어 직업교육과 함께 진로교육이 병행되어 실시되어야 할 문제를 안고 있다.
셋째, 공업계 고등학교로 진학한 것에 대해 대체로 만족하고 있으며 전공과목에 대해 흥미와 관심수준은 실습과목에는 높으나 이론과목에는 낮아 이론적인 바탕 위에 실습기능이 연마될 수 있도록 교육적 지도가 요구되며 특별활동 및 예체능과목에도 관심을 갖고 지도할 필요가 있다.
넷째, 공업계 고등학교 교육내용에 대해 특성을 살린 전공교육이라고 생각하고 있으나 진학을 위한 인문과목 배정도 원하고 있어 교육정책 당국의 대책이 요구된다. 또한 학생들은 공업고등학교에 대한 사회적 인식과 평판을 낮게 지각하기 때문에 사회적 인식변화와 여건을 조성하고 자긍심을 심어줄 필요가 있다
다섯째, 공업계 고등학교 학생들은 직업을 선택할 때 본인의 적성과 장래의 발전 가능성에 바탕을 둔 바람직한 직업의식을 갖고 있으며 직업이 필요한 이유로서 생계를 꾸려가고 부를 축적하기 위한 현실적인 직업관을 보이고 있다. 대학이상의 학력을 갖고 있어야 원하는 직업을 선택할 수 있다는 학력관을 보이고 있어 사회의 현실이 고학력과 전문성을 갖춘 인재를 요구하고 있다.
여섯째, 공업계 고등학교 학생들은 원하는 직업을 갖기 위해 가장 필요한 것은 실력이라고 생각하고 있으며 직업에는 귀천이 있다는 보수적인 시각을 보였다. 즉, 직업을 선택할 때는 적성과 근무환경을 고려하는 직업의식을 갖고 있다.
일곱째, 공업계 고등학교 학생들은 대부분 기능 자격취득을 원하고 있어 기능사 자격취득을 위한 체계적이고 교육적인 지도가 요구된다. 졸업 후 직장생활에서 성공할 것에 대한 자신감을 보이고 있어 희망적인 장래 진로의식을 보여주고 있고 부모의 직업에 대해 대체로 만족하고 있어 긍정적인 사고의식을 갖고 있다.
여덟째, 공업계 고등학교 학생들은 전문대학 이상의 교육을 원하고 있으나 본인의 능력이 미치지 못해 진학에 어려움을 겪는다고 생각하고 있으며 장래 더 좋은 직업을 갖고 사회의 차별대우를 이기기 위해 상급학교에 진학할 생각을 갖고 있어 교육정책 당국이 이들의 문제를 알고 해결할 수 있는 정책적 대안이 요구된다.
공업고등학교는 산업기능인력을 양성하기 위한 목표아래 설립된 학교이지만 현실은 80%이상의 학생들이 대학진학을 원하고 있다. 진학문제로 고민하는 학생이 높은 비율을 차지하고 있는 현실을 감안하여 진로상담활동을 통해 적성과 능력에 맞는 진로선택이 될 수 있도록 지속적인 상담활동이 필요하며 교육과정 운영이 대학진학의 요구에 맞는 교과편성이 되지 못하고 있는 현실이기 때문에 대다수의 학생들이 공업교육의 목표를 달성하지 못하고 주변인에 불과한 학교생활을 하고 있다. 이와 같은 현실을 파악하여 학생들의 욕구에 맞는 현실적인 교육이 이뤄질 수 있도록 정책적 대책을 수립할 것이 절실히 요망된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to analyse technical high school students' career choice patterns and attitude toward their occupation.
The questions of this research were as follows:
1. What is the trend of technical high school students' career choice?
2. How do they evaluate the educational system of their own school?
3. What do they have the attitude toward their occupation?
4. How do they prospect their future job and employment?
The subjects were 523 male/female students enrolled in eight public high schools as 3rd degree, and the researcher visited the schools for collecting survey data. SPSS PC 10.0 was used for processing the data.
The results of this study were as follows:
First, The subjects perceived that the reason they enroll in technical high school was lack of the교 academic score. And they were prone to decide it in the deadline to apply for their school though they knew the school beforehand, which shows that the school counselors should inform them of adequate information about high school in advance.
Second, the students' career choice were significantly influenced by their teachers. And although they were to recommend technical school to their juniors, they had another wish to get the opportunity for higher education.
Third, although they were satisfied with the school and interested in specialized subjects, they still require studying artistic subjects as well as basic subjects.
Fourth, since the student want to learn the academic subjects, the school counselor should prepare the counseling services for the students' academic needs. Also since the students think that the reputation of their school is not so good, it is required to make them change their recognition toward their situation in the community and have the strong self-confidence.
Fifth, when the technical high school students' choose their job, they had appropriate view of it, much more practical view to live and make money. Since they have a view of education that they need higher educational background, at least, university, it can be said that actually the need of higher education and expertise reflects the society's situation.
Sixth, the students in technical high school regard their own skills as the most important factor to get a job and have some conservative view that all occupations are not equally honorable. That is, they still consider aptitude and conditions of employment.
Seventh, since almost students in technical high school want to get a certificate of qualifications, more systematic and educational training is required for them to get it. Their hope to succeed in the job after graduation showed their positive view of the career in the future. They regarded their parents' job as good, which means they have optimistic way of thinking.
Eighth, they wish to get higher education of technical college or more. he reason why they think of it is that they want to overcome some discriminative treatment from a better job. It shows the national educational institute shall prepare proper policy to settle down the problem.
According to this data, a lot of students in the technical high school are in trouble with their career, the school counseling system should continue to advise and consult them for the proper choice of their career. Also almost student haven't met the reasonable purpose and goals in the school due to poor curriculum to go to university and college.0 conclusion, they should prepare practical and satisfactory policies in order that the students in technical high school could be satisfied with the school education.
