      We have until now studied on the meaning of early musical education in babyhood, the environmental effect on the formation of character, and the basic theories on them. The purpose of analysis of the necessity of early musical education and the role for the formation of character was to draw some suggestions for the development and reform of our nation's present musical education in babyhood.
      The results of this study may be summarized as follows :
      1. Musical education in babyhood has its educational value at the earliest basic stage in its ideal terms of cultivation of aesthetic emotion as well as sufficient human education for an individual, and in terms of its basic educational activities in order to create the development of humanity with desirable sense of value. Thus the early musical education in babyhood is very important and is absolutely necessary.
      2. The purpose of early musical education in babyhood is not to cultivate professional musicians, so the education should be intended to develop aesthetic and emotional behavior by purifying babies' emotional world.
      3. Babyhood is most suitable period for the accumulation of creative experiences for babies' self-expression, and for natural discovery of the original character of such creative experience through musical education. In order to develop the natural character of babies, individual variations should be taken into consideration in the method of education first of all.
      If the purpose aims at making babies lead happy living and at forming their characters, the education should be performed for them to lead happy life and to love music, that is, in the level of so called the education for living not in the process of education for professional musicians.
      4. Parents should provide with various environments necessary for early musical education to make their babies' characters grow harmoniously. If the parents recognize the importance of emotional education at early stage as the basis of the formation of character, they should give their babies the opportunities to play various musical instruments, to listen to the music whenever they want in natural and free atmosphere so that they can enjoy music in daily living.
      Musical education at early stage has inseperable relation with the formation of character, so correct musical education should be performed at the scene of education. Music is true and emotional language through which human emotional feeling can be systematically expressed by organizing and harmonizing beautiful sounds.
