The purpose of this study is to investigate the hierarch structure in the group which constructed the punku tomb and a main motive that jar-coffine tomb group had been growed as a the regional political bodies's representative power of 5C.
For the purpose, First, Punku tomb which the pit was laid as a main burial structure of mound and Punku tomb which the jar-coffine was laid as a main burial structure of mound was divied into 3-4C Punku tomb construction 양상. Second, through a burial structure construction aspect of mound and artifact analysis can be classified I ~ III period. And through this investigated Punku tomb's construction group change process. The results of this study were arranged as follows.
In the I -Period, the pit-made group that pit tomb was laid as a main burial structure and the jar-coffine-made group that the jar-coffine were laid as a main burial structure was constructed. The former was constructed that pit was laid as a main burial structure and then the pit or jar-coffine was laid an additional burial structure. the social hierarch in the the pit-made group was confirmed the three group through burial structure's position and artifact. social hierarch was confirmed 1 Group which was constructed the pit tomb as a main burial structure, 2 or 3 Group which was constructed the pit tomb or jar-coffine tomb as a burial structure. On the other hand, about in the middle or latter of A.D. 3C, the jar-coffine-made group was constructed a burial ground divide from the pit-made group. the social hierarch in the jar-coffine-made group was confirmed the two group through burial structure's position and artifact. the jar-coffine-made punku moumd construction aspect was similar to the pit-made group construction aspect. But jar-coffine was laid as a main burial structure and in that the proportion of the iron ingot and the iron-made small farming tool model among the artifacts was high is different. At I period, the jar-coffine-made group was appearenced that divided with the pit-made group divide from burial structure and burial ground in the tradition constructed the pit-made group.
In the II -Period, two tomb-constructed group were showed developmental appearance at the same time. The social hierarch in the pit-made group was confirmed the three group. Pit tomb-made group still developed as a social center group succeeding I period and was appeared very highest development at the starting point 4C middle part. And also jar-coffin tomb was constructed with pit tomb in the mound appeared development appearance constructing as a equal relation with pit tomb. On the other hand, the social hierarch in the jar-coffine-made group was confirmed the two group. This period was constructed the jar-coffine-made punku mound in each region. Influential power in each regional unit was existed, Influential powers was formed equal right. In the II-Period, punku mound-made group was showed individual growing appearence. In the II -Period, punku mound-made group was confirmed growing appearence the larger appearence of burial structure and affulence of the artifact. That is to say, this situation was presumed that development of the Chonnam Province ancient society accomplished the progress of a social hierarch.
In the III-Period, The social hierarch in the the pit-made group was confirmed the three group and in the jar-coffine-made group was confirmed the two group. But, at this period the pit-made group was gradually declined and the jar-coffine-made group was developed internally through international relation with Bakje and Japan.
Finally, through I -III period, the main burial structuer change of the pit jar-coffin and the background that the jar-coffine-made group had been growed the chief power in the corse of formation process of the state is to mentioned to be brief. the jar-coffine-made group was constructed I period middle or later. and then the jar-coffine-made group was growing gradually and was expanded the power than the pit-made group in about 5C. At this point the jar-coffine-made group was existed the possible different group from the pit-made group. About in the middle or later of I period, the convertion of a main burial structure from the pit to the jar-coffin was supposed to mean that the jar-coffine-made group formed power enough to construct their mound. And the formation of the jar-coffine-made group was supposed to possible through external activity which the jar-coffine-made group was entrusted rather than discorded trouble with the pit-made group. This deduction was basised on the geographical situation, the iron ingot and the iron-made small farming tool model frequently excavated from jar-coffin tomb rather than the pit tomb, external pottery excavated from II period. That is to say, the externally exchange activity of the jar-coffine-made group was acted through a water course called west-south sea and youngsan river of the Chonnam province and through this place was supposed to enter external objects. Such an external exchange activity- of the jar-coffine-made group was acted on inner development of the entire society and cause which maintained power of the pit-made group and was supposed to foundation for the internal development of the jar-coffine-made group. That is to say, external activity was the growth cause of the jar-coffine-made group growth cause and was supposed to be development cause.
