The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between mothers' child-rearing attitude and children's moral judgement. And this also aims to analyze how children's moral judgement is influenced by the features of children's home background.
The subjects were two hundred preschool children in Chonbuk province and their mothers. The children's moral judgement was measured by the instrument which was devised originally by Piaget and modified by Park young-hee (1995). The data were statistically analyzed by t-test, F-test, and correlation coefficient.
The results of this study are as follows:
1. There were significant differences on children's moral judgement according to their sex, parents' age, parents' education level, and monthly income.
① The level of girls' moral judgement was higher than that of boys'.
② The level of children's moral judgement was higher when their parents were older.
③ The level of children's moral judgement was higher when their parents' educational career was higher.
④ The level of children's moral judgement was higher when their parents' monthly income was higher.
2. There were significant differences on mother's child-rearing attitude according to the mothers' age and the education level.
① Mothers placed emphasis on the warm-acceptance rearing attitude when they were old and highly-educated.
② Mothers showed the rejection-restriction rearing attitude when they were young.
③ Fathers showed the permissiveness-nonintervention rearing attitude when they are young, professional, and self-employed.
3. There were significant differences between mother's child-rearing attitude and children's moral judgement.
① The level of children's moral judgement was high when mothers had the warm-acceptance rearing attitude.
② The level of children's moral judgement was low when mothers showed the rejection-restriction rearing attitude.
③ The level of children's moral judgement was not influenced when mothers had the permissive-nonintervention rearing attitude.
