Second, it made clear the mental stresses of moms with a special child and moms with an ordinary one by looking into the causes.
The subjects, who are the moms of special educational institutes and elementary schools in Pohang, were studied by a group collection. They were interviewed directly when mom’s assemblies were held, and 240 moms were participated in it.
Statistics were progressed by the SPSS 10.0 for window.

This method, at first, had had 101 questions(PSI/LF(Long Form), it developed to have 36 that are 12 questions each in 3 lower categories in 1990. This study used PSI/SF and chose 19 questions from it. The main variables of PSI were a pain territory of parents, contrary functional mutuality between parents and their children, and difficult characteristics of the children.
Besides, the measuring method on mental stresses was 25 questions of CMI(Cornel1 Medical Index). CMI’s main variable causes were consist of impotentness, melancholy, nervousness, tension and displeasure.
This study had a significance to compare and to analyze the stresses from bringing up children and the mental stresses between moms with a special child and moms with an ordinary one. And it concluded like this.
First, More stresses the moms with a special child got than the other ones, which is because of parents’ responsibilities and social isolation. This appearance caused by the alienation around social surroundings from the social prejudice on special children. However, in the point of parents‘ affection and their personal lives both kinds of moms were at similar levels of stresses.
Second, it turned out that moms with a special child get much more stresses than the other ones like melancholy or nervousness. And also they were under much more stresses from impotentness, tension and displeasure than the other moms. These stresses came from their unordinary children.
Synthesizing these results, both kinds of moms usually get the stresses in common, but moms with a special child get more stresses that moms with an ordinary one don’t know. And the kinds of the stresses were very complex and various.
This kind of suggestion came out of the result of the study.
First, many social assistant programs need to be developed for the healthy and positive life of the family members with special children.
Second, following studies should appear to understand the stresses not only for moms with a special child but also for moms with a common child, and show how to deal with the children by developing stress models that can be applied in our country. Especially, not only on moms there should be broad studies on whole family members as well.
Next, we need to understand exactly how moms feel with their special children, and make them live together with the other people in the society by congnizing their situations.
And also much more exact variables that effect the stresses and much more treatments have to be found and progressed, even though it is increasing to study about them. So they should be done by environmental and social access to decrease moms' stresses, not only by access to their homes.
Finally, welfare progressing on the special children reached a very low level of quantity and quality, besides it isn't realistic. Before too late, specific policies on special children that fit this country must be carried out.
